I've taken the stripes off, but have some residue left that is the same color as the original stripe. I've tried both gloo gone and did not get it off. Any ideas what to do next?

probably those "moist towlettes" that you get at restaurants to clean off your hands. There are tons of products out there that will take the sticky stuff off, gasoline breaks stuff down and doesn't hurt the paint (hell, you spill it from time to time while fueling up).

seriously, just carefully peel it off......if there are any adhesive stains left just wipe it off with any of the above methods but when i did it i had no problems and had no need for any kfc wipes or any other cleaner it came right off

I'm not having problems getting the sticky stuff off (windex, goo gone, and polish worked). I'm having part of the pin stripe still left when I peel off the stripe. The remaining piece is not easy to get off as the original.

I finally got them off w/ the Easy Off Oven Cleaner (Original Formula). I searched the Forum and someone had suggested it. I also stopped by a couple of paint shops and graphics shop to see how they would remove them. Couple of them suggest the Easy Off and another suggested 1500 grit wet sanding. Since I've never wet sanded before, I chose the Easy Off.

Fairly painless (unless you leave it on your hands for a long time), just spray on, let it sit and scrape off. I used a Bic Click-it pen to scrape (using the plastic part w/ the pen retracted). This didn't damage the paint at all. Mine is a 97, and after 5 years, no ill effect of sun damage.
