Pilot Bearing?

Is it true that 5th gen does not have a pilot bearing (MT, of course)?

I can't tell for sure...if 'no' then what is illustration item #9 in this picture:

Honda Automotive Parts

"needle bearing" (?)

Anyone who has done a clutch job that might confirm yes or no?

Thanks,
-S

hmm... I had mine apart a couple of weeks back... all of those gears and bearings have spiffy names? I just called that thing the thing-a-ma-bob that went on the doo-hickey.

Seriously tho; the H22 does not have a pilot bearing. The pilot bearing is the hole, on the engine-side of the flywheel... all the H22 has, is a divit in the crankshaft; letting the flywheel guide the transmission mainshaft, as opposed to the crankshaft guiding it.

As for that bearing in the picture; that is the INSIDE of the transmission; which has more bearings then I could possibly count... I really don't think many of them have spiffy names. (plus, item 009 is not on the mainshaft).

The only common bearing on the transmission that most people mess with, is the Throwout bearing; which sits on the other side of the transmission =)

Peace
Mike

* Don't ask me what's been done to the Prelude. It is not stock; and very few pieces still have the original VIN..
