Peeps with Vtec Controller

Since i have I/E/H set up. My next mod is probably going to be a vtec controller but I have some concerns about it.
Will the inspection station say anything about it ?
Also since it's not removable, don't you have to worry about getting it stolen ?? It's like a head unit, i always take mine out but the vtec controller will always be stuck in there.
Where do you guys install them ? under the head unit compartment or under the switches on the left hand side of the steering wheel ? or can you hook it up inside the glove box compartment so you can lock it up ?
Thanks for replies.

I recommend the Apexi Vafc first of all U can buy it from a guy on here for $225 but seems kind of sketchy too me for that price. Try www.groupbuycenter.com and u can get them for $300 shipped.

I'm sure people do steal them just like anything else, but if u r worried about it put in the glove compartment or somewhere hidden

How beneficial would this be as a 1st mod?
I know most here have intake and/or exhaust & wondering if there would be significant gains w/o either. my next mod most likely will be aem & haven't decided if ill do a catback.

so would just a vpac w/dyno testing be noticeable?

Not at all The point of the controller is too adjust your fuel/air ratio b/c your mods changed some of it and it will be more beneficial to change your x-over (vtec range) and your air/fuel ratio to get the best performance out of your mods. This should be after I/h/e

but since the engagment pt is lowered, wouldn't that by itself make a difference?

Not if u haven't changed anything The point of the VAFC is not just to lower your vtec range but adjust to the mods that u already have.

If u r thinking about buying the Apexi VAFC from that guy who is selling it for $225 u should consider it but it won;t make a diff. unless u have some other mods

Here is a good site: http://www.members.aol.com/ryoucold/...pexi/apexi.htm

If you have CARB legal i/h/e you should be able to set your VAFC levels back to 0 (unaltered fuel maps) and pass emisions then just put your settings back in after emmissions test. Just be sure to write them down or memorize them-especially if you spend money to Dyno tune it.
