Patching 18-inch tires

Is a 18inch z-rated tire cool to patch up from a nail puncture? or should I just get a new tire? Any help would be ...

If it is on the side you cant fix it.............
If on top of the tire go ahead and get it fixed but keep a close eye on the tire by checking the air..............
Also note that eventually you are going to need a ne tire b/c this is a temp fix........although it does give you some time to save up money or look around for deals.............
If fixed crrectly and depending on the size of the nail it should last about 6 months give or take...............

oh crap! I thought that it was patched for good? well, for normal everyday use anyways, not racing, autocrossing or anything like that.

can you or anyone else tell me what happens after 6 months? I'm just asking 'cause I had a nail in my 17" tires just last month

Working my second job doing tires. The Patch is a perminate fix but you loose the speed rating, if you plan on driving over 100mph you NEED a new tire cause the old one "could" fail.
But otherwise if you are just gonna drive arround no real hurry.

Well i don't even think that they are that high. Just don't do any exessive speeding and the tire will be fine. You will not loose the other traits of the Z rated tire such as reduced braking distance and maybe the better cornering.
Well the people that patched the tire either didn't know what they were doing or you were heathing the tire up too much(driving really fast) . If you want to go fast then relpace the tire you will feel better!

yeah.. I was just kinda worried 'cause I'll be going on a small road-trip tomorrow! but I rarely exceed 100mph anyways. usually only 90+mph tops

You should be fine Just pay attention to the car and make sure that the Air Pressure is up where it should be. Good luck on the road trip.
