Passenger side mirror cracked...

My passenger side mirror cracked for whatever reason and I called Honda and apparently I can't replace just the mirror part. But I called another place and they said that they have a mirror that can fit the lude, but it's not heated... Does anyone know what's the difference between a heated mirror and a non-heated mirror? I thought that the heat's generated behind the mirror... anyways, does anyone know if only the mirror part is replaceable??? thx!

Here's what I found after a crap load of searching and calling honda...
Passenger side mirror glass for 98 Prelude:

Honda Calgary (CND prelude-heated)
honda part # 76203-S30-C01
$94CND

Manchester (usdm prelude-non-heated)
33518 MIRROR, R. (1400)
honda part # 76203-S30-A01
$20USD

Canadian Tire (non-heated)
$25CND

It appears that the difference between the heated glass and the non-heated glass is a heating element that's attached to the glass. So, yes there is a difference. But the question is whether the non-heated glass will "fit" in the mirror assembly if you simply disconnect the heating connector and use it as a non-heated mirror? Also, I have NO idea how to change the glass out of the mirror. Is it glued on or is it screwed on? The canadian tire guy said that they'd have to remove the whole mirror housing to replace just the glass!! I was like, WTF??? Highway robbery!!!

go to any glazier place.... they will make it fit for u.... they jus order it from the same place, honda pplz order it from..... i believe the reason heated ones are different cause their thicker... due to the resistance to hot and cold..

Just thought I'd resurrect this thread as my Canadian heated side mirror is cracked down the center as well. Honda wants to replace the entire assembly for some $320CDN. Speedy Auto-glass can replace just the glass for around $60 but the glass is listed as non-heated. The guy tells me that this may or may not be an issue as some cars you can re-use the heating element but he can't guarantee anything. Which means, I may lose the heated mirror on one side, which totally sucks monkey balls if you ask me (hey, I live in Winterpeg, I need every heated thing I can get). So, just wondering if anyone in the 5 years since the last post in this thread has dealt with this issue?
