just need some tips. i am thinking about painting the stock side skirts and rear valence. where would i purchase spray paint to match the stock color? i know that OSH and hardware stores, even auto places like autozone, dont sell paint to match the stock paint, mine being premium pearl white.
next, any tips on removing the stock side skirts and rear valence, rear especially?
don't do it!! i did this with my black flamenco prelude and it still looks nasty, even though it's black. i used 2 cans of spray paint and 1 can of clear coat and spent the whole day doing it. what a waste of time. take it to maaco or something.
I wanted to paint my base sides and back, but after taling to various shops and people, i didn't. For some reason, the plastic in our base valences do not hold paint very well. Shops said that paint will hold, but after time will chip, flake, and fall apart.
Wait and save up like i did. Last nite I installed my OEM kit. It was worth the wait.
Yup, that's the same response (as djc) from the body shop up here in Canada... "we can paint it for you if you want, but it will flake off eventually..."
so, after over three years of having my car, I finally ordered the oem bodykit... but i can only find the sides and rear in my color (nordic mist metallic) and the front in silver from other model years. I wonder how much different would it look?! And anyone know around how much to repaint the front lip?
can someone give me some tips or anything i need to know when i remove the side skirts or rear valence? i am not going to paint them, but instead buy the SH or OEM kit. any help i appreciated
I was going to do the same thing with my nighthawk black lude. I got a body shop to mix up the paint for me and put it into a spray can. The paint was 25 bucks. You can do the prep work. Use a degreaser to get all the armor all off (simple green). And wash it with warm water. Scuff the surface with some scotch brite and use some primer.
In the end have the body shop clear coat it for you to get the gloss to match the car.
Like I said I was all ready to do this, and then my Fiance bought me a body kit the next day.
