Overheating, no heat in cabin, reserve full, oil not creamy, pls help :(

Hi guys, I've got a weird question here about my car overheating.

About a week ago my car overheated, not in the red, but not normal, and their was smoke and NO HEAT IN THE CABIN. I got it home, was pissed, didn't want to mess with it, and it had been sitting since.

I tried to figure some stuff out yesterday and found out that my coolant reserve was bone dry, filled the reserve to the top, filled the radiator, turned it over for about 10 minutes, seemed fine, had to go to work.

Tried today, opened the radiator cap, nothing there but the reserve was still full. Read somethings about how there may be air in the radiator so I put it on a slant and filled the radiator with coolant. I saw some air bubbles come out and I kept filling it. Cranked up the heat in the cabin and it was perfect, just like it should have been, and the temp gauge was exactly where it should have been and it stayed this way for about 30 minutes while I let it run. I thought I had burped the system so I took it for a drive.

I drove the streets for about 10 minutes with the heat cranked and everything was perfect, turned off the heat and it was all still okay. Then I took it on the interstate, drove about 15 minutes at 60 and it started to overheat. I pulled off into a parking lot and opened the hood. And what I noticed was a trail of fluid all the way from the off ramp to the lot. I gave it about 30 minutes and it cooled down a bit so I drove home, it still stayed above normal but never hit the red, and again there was no heat in the cabin.

So I parked it at home and checked the radiator and again there was no coolant in it but the reserve was totally full and once again the heat was not working.

Thanks for reading.

Any thoughts?

I'm going to try that tomorrow, it was dark and late so I did it the "easy" way, but what worried me most was all the excess fluid that I trailed off the interstate.

And thanks for the crazy quick reply.
