Out of all the 2000 preludes (or 2k1) how many that have SS are having tranny probs?
I have had my 2k SS lude for 7.5 months (i bought it new in july) anyway it has 15,500 miles on it now, and i don't experience any of the probs that people who have had tran probs have witnessed. No hard to go to reverse, and no banging noise going from 3rd to 4th......i use SS about 30% of the time but when i do i drive it pretty hard, as thats why i bought the prelude...anyway what are the chances of the trans going out on me? i heard from 2k and on the probs are much less, is this verified and how many 2k and 2k1 ss owners have had probs....?
most people seem to agree that some strengthening has been done to the 99-01 transmissions, and It seems to me that the majority of problems have been with the 97 and 98 only..but time will tell once us younger boys put on the mileage

17K on mine and no problems yet. I would say that I use the SS about 95% of the time. Auto is boring for me, but it comes in handy every once in a while.
My 2000 now has 16,500 miles and it's going strong. Umm... it's a little jerky sometimes in on/off throttle situations. Then sometimes if I come to a stop and imediately put the gas down I get like no acceleration.

70000 km on my 98... and it seems to be fine still. But if I have my windows opened when I shift into reverse, I hear a pretty loud "click"... wonder if it is normal?... maybe I should get it checked out... any ideas?

well if your still under warranty go check it out anyways and have the dealer replace your tranny. i have heard that the "click" is a warning sign that your tranny might be going out soon. but anyways i hear that noice sometimes, but only when i put it in reverse while the car is drifting a tad bit. i have 12k on my 01 lude and i have no problems. i drive in SS mode 99.9% of the time because in auto mode it shifts too early and drops way out of the VTEC band.
97 ss with 67k going fine. and keep in mind that 97 is the first year ss was introduced. i drive pretty hard on the ss too, so i guess it really depends on the car itself.
My 99 SS JUST broke 33K miles today and I don't think the car has seen one tranny fluid change either...... I have the fluid, just that I need a jack lift to help me out...............
NO problems and I do have mods, as well as a aggressive driving behavior...... safe one but I would say kinda aggressive.......

Where in NYC you from. Me and my friends all have 5 gen ludes. So we always looking for people to cruise with Let me know.
I got 13,000 on my SS (2001) and sometime that **** would slip but who knows. My style of driving is....I sit in traffic all day long... So there is my style for you.

that small click is normal, just not a loud bang all the time. I personally think it is a hit and miss for the SS. There was a poll done on all years to see what the percentages were and I think if you totalled up all the years it was about a 33% chance of failure.
I can't sleep right knowing that my SS will develope a cancer, she will soon be gone to be replaced by a 5sp of some sort. If a 5sp dies on you, there are many replacements for it. If an auto dies, it would probably be rebuilt which will just die again.
That off throttle shift is pissing me off. Those shifts are rough. If I was a passenger and didn't know any better, I would think our SS were domestics
haha ford prelude oh yeah . 2000 prelude SS, 19.7k miles, first and hopefully last tranny replacement whenever I get that damn tranny already! 2 weeks downtime and a sh*tbox rental car and I'm getting annoyed but I don't know if I should be complaining since it's all paid for.
