never seeing a forum on any site that really gave any real directions, i decided to go in myself and try to figure this out. i took off the panel around the A/C-CD units, unscrewed the A/C control unit, unscrewed the CD control unit, took out the panels holding them down. i looked on the back of the A/C control unit, and i found an orange-colored plug which looked like it may have been leading to the light bulb. the only other connections i found going to the controls were electircal wires, so i am assuming that the orange plug was for the light, thought since i am not completely sure, i decided to hold back. has anyone out there gotten to my point and know for sure if that plug is definately for the light bulb? also, do u know what model the light bulb is? or who would sell them in blue? thanks
well i decided to go back in, and i took some pictures this time to either help any of u out considering doing this, or for anyone who has done this, to tell me where i may have gone wrong...
btw, in Image #5, the orange piece connected to the A/C unit [has multiple blue wires running behind it] is what i am thinking the bulb is behind, i couldnt even figure out how to disconnect the piece...
what i did:
1.simply unsnapped the dash piece that surrounds the a/c unit control cd controls, easy to do
2. unscrewed the 4 gold colored screws that bolt down the A/C unti
3. unscrewed the 2 black screws holding the piece with the CD Player in place, this allows u to remove it and have better access to the A/C control
4. removed the cd player unit
5. looked on the back of the A/C unit and thats it.....?

You're kind of barking up the wrong tree.
For the AC lights there are 3 bulbs so it doesn't help to look at the wiring harness. 2 on top and 1 in the back. I don't know what the wattage is on those though. From page 22-34 they look like the same 3.0W bulbs that would be used in the guages. To change the color of the gauges you need 4 3.0W bulbs. They are small screw-in bulbs that also happen to be the SAME bulb that goes on when you have low fuel in the fuel gauge.
I've already looked into this stuff. It helps to have a Helm manual by the way.
You can just pull out the AC control unit and you should see the bulbs. The hard part isn't getting TO the bulbs....the hard part is FINDING those bulbs. I kinda found a place that has them but I'm not sure if they'll sell them to me as they are the manufacturer. I'm not giving anymore information on this right now as the info I DO have is incomplete. If I find out EVERYTHING you need to know I WILL post it up.
Originally posted by white-chocolate $60 for a manual? oooof. kinda steep. well i guess ill just wait around and keep my fingers crossed that you get all the info. thanks for the reply
You're kidding me right? The manual tells you SO much stuff that's it's worth more than $100 dollars.
It showed me how to adjust my valves, put in my suspension, how to bypass the AFBS unit and a ton of other information. So in the end it saved me way more than $60.
People can buy a car for over 20K but can't buy a manual for 60? While this post sounds like I'm flaming, I'm not....just bringing up a point. Trust me you want that book.

wait hold up...how did you get to the bulbs? i tried gettin to it but failed cuz i thought i was about to break sumthing...i got to the point where i pulled the whole a/c unit out of the dash but couldn't open it to get to the bulbs...can you, or anyone for that matter, give me advice on how to get to the bulbs after you get the A/C unit out of the dash? it would help if sumone (meaning white-chocolate since your pics were helpful ) could post pix to show me how its done..thx in advance if sumone does it...
thanks Noel for commenting on the hygeine of my toenails....anyways, as for the pics, i think im gonna hold back on trying to open the AC unit and physically get to the bulbs, simply because i dont know what type of bulbs to buy, and thus if i dont have a replacement bulb, whats the sense of going any furthur...? so until i can find the exact bulb type and a place to buyt it i wont go any furthur. ill try to keep u updated on any future finds

from this i'm guessing you got to the bulbs..can you explain to me how you go tto them..i'm alil confused how you got to them..i got to the point on pulling out the a/c unit but i didn't know how to get to the bulbs itself..wanna help a brotha out? ..thx
and also, can you tell us what model the bulb is, wattage, etc. cause i have several car store hookups down here in Miami and its possible they could order these bulbs for me. thanks
o ya also, would someone mind typing this article outta the Helms manual for us ?
everyone who wants to work on their car should invest in getting the damn manual. I know it would be nice if someone could type up every single friggin page but do yourself a huge favor, if you're a DIY kinda person then get the book. I just got it and damn it feels like such a bargain getting it for $72. Seriously you guys, get the book unless light bulbs are the only thing you'll ever do to your car then nevermind, don't buy it. Just pay some other guy to do it for you or just go ahead and rip out bulbs if you're an electrical engineer person.
heres something to think about... if you really study the book you might learn how to restore parts of your car that might yield a good 5-10 hp... thats a lot for ~70 bucks. (ie change the plugs! change the oil, readjust valves... blah blah.)
