Oil cooler to block o-ring and Oil cooler?

Where can I source one of, (if not a couple for spares), of the 70mm o-ring that goes between the factory engine oil cooler and the block?

And....., has anyone converted the factory coolant oil cooler to an air to air heat exchanger and what were the results? It seems a multi-pass cooler, say 13-17 with 10AN fittings would do a better job cooling the oil than the coolant.

Any feedback is appreciated as I'm very interested in what the results were.

Thanks! V1

aftermarket oil cooelrs are pain int he ass, you have issue you runteh risk of killing your engine, the oem equiptment is good enough unless you go huge turbo and highboost.

as for the o ring, im just really lazy but i did post the part numebr in another thread regarding teh h23vtec im mid build. The h22a4 oil cooelr is the same part as the h23vtec. Is your prelude an sh? if so then that part numebr wont do you any good as they are separate parts.

I found one in Cal'y specifically for my '00 H22A from JDM in Japan. A little pricey at $12 but guranteed to be the correct one or they'll give me a full refund no questions asked.. I'm running the filter adapter pancake that provides 2 - 1/8 npt taps allows me to hook-up my mechanical oil pressure gauge. That's sort of where I got the idea of moving the oil filter to a more accessable area and considering swapping out the oil cooled by engine coolant to an air to air cooler instead. I do this type of stuff on customs and aircraft by trade so it's pretty easy for me.

If/when I attempt the conversion, I'll be sure to post up the results, pros/cons.

^interesting; im curious to see the system you make for it.

I used the oil pressure sending unit, to hook up a pressure gauge.

as for the o ring, you can get them at pretty mich any dealership, or online as well.

Curious as to why you say aftermarket oil coolers are a PITA? If you look at the Honda FSM diagramming for the coolant hoses, (rubber and clamps prone to leaking), that circulate coolant around the oil filter boss, that, by my measure looks more susceptable to failure than an air to liquid cooler plummed with all spec. AN style fittings and steel braided lines would be a welcome upgrade.

The factory system can only keep the oil as cool as the engine coolant itself. I would think cooler oil / viscosity is a good thing and an improvement over the factory cooler. The addition of a thermostatically controlled cooling fan would also help stabalize the oil temperature in both the warm and cold seasons.

Cabin feaver setting in from some surgery I had and I've been looking for simple low dollar improvement ideas and I stumbled onto these coolers. Your thoughts and feedback are welcome.

I tried an oil cooler, made by BM, ran lines to it and had nothign but problems; and realistically, the decrease in tempurature wasnt really worth all the ****ign around. In the end, the stock system is more than sufficient, unless you are looking to make some masher of a motor(and in that case it would neevr be driving for long periods of time, and further to that it would be seeing huge servcie amount inbetween use). Honestly, IMO, the oil cooler setups are really not worth the effort unless you have a seriously serisouly race made purpose only.

But i am interested in seeing what you do.
