Oil & Compression Issues

I have a 2001 SH that burns about a Quart of oil every 1000 miles. Tailpipe is black with soot. I'm thinking bad rings causing blow by, I've read on this forum about possible PCV valve problems. I did a compression test and here were the results

Dry: 185-210-200-210

then I dropped about a half table spoon of oil in each cylinder to retest and got

220 - 250 - 260 - 255

I'm thinking this tells me that there are bad rings, and I've read this before.

I'm also concerned about the cylinders being scratched/scored.

Any thoughts?

I just recently had the same problem, but mine wasn't the the rings, i had bad valve seals and valves not seating completely due to carbon build up and it was runnin too rich, possible tuning issue for me. Do a leakdown test, that'll will better determine what is really wrong.

I took my 2000 SH to the garage a few days ago due to similiar problems. Bad gas mileage, burns oil, smoke out of exhaust. They said it was bad rings but he straight up said he didn't do a compression test so I bought the kit and my fiance did the compression test the results seemed to be normal for a honda I guess....I forget all the readings 2 were 210 and the other 2 were 185 maybe?...Someone told me to try the oil thing after the first test but anyone else I asked never heard of anything like that so we didn't do it. Along with doing the compression test he found that out of 4 plugs 3 were the WRONG kind for a honda and they all were bad. So I bought new plugs and wires to see if that was the problem at all. Someone else mentioned checking the valve seals and valve stem seals so that is my next move before I dish out $1400 for the rings. Not even sure how my story relates to your question but since I'm having the same problem and someone advised me to change the valve seals and valve stem, I'd say try that out.
