Oil Catcher Can Setup/Writeup - PCV Valve Location

This all depends on the sort of oil catcher can you are buying as alot of them are diffrent so you might have to do things diffrently but it is still very easy.

This is my first writeup so please bare with me on this one. The reason for this writeup is because the PCV valve has alot of oil going through it and I realised that it's sending it directly into the intake manifold. So far I have found atleast 150mL worth of oil at the bottom of the can and this is within 2 months. And I was not vtecn it as much too. I know that the more you vtec it the more oil will shoot into it.

Ill go straight into it.

Tools:

Socket wrench / Sockets

Flat head screw driver

Scissors

Cash

Catcher Can Equipment:

-An oil catcher can

-Silicone hoses not water hoses

-Hose clamps to go around the hoses

-Bolts to go into the threads where the guage on the oil catcher can is supposed to go

-Rubber seals / washer . These go around all the bolts get an assorted sizes box as long as you can get the can air tight

Step 1

Buy an oil catcher can which looks like this or similar red is cool for me. That there is the oil guage which comes with the catcher can. Remove it. And make sure to buy some hose clamps and some cool silicone hoses! Up to you what ones you wan't just make sure the hose clamps can go around the hose. Get some bolt's to go into the oil catcher can.

Step 2

With your rubber washers / seals put them around the bolts. Put the washers on all the bolts around the can as well unless you think it's air tight enough then you don't have to. Put the bolts into the threads where the guage was supposed to go and it should look like this.

Step 3

Get your awesomely cool silicone hoses and hose clamps and put them on the oil catcher can or you can leave them off for now until we take the PCV valve off.

Step 4

Go to your car remove the old PCV valve and install your oil catcher can.

Step 5

It should look like this and there all done. Make sure you check the can say every 6 months or give it a shake and see if theres oil in it when you feel like you want to empty it

How easy was that? I understand it is diffrent with USDM engines as my car is JDM RHD not left so it might be harder to mount the catcher can or easier. Just do not put holes into your firewall though as It can void your warrant of fitness. I got lucky as my catcher can slides in on the left side of the car. & make sure to tighten the hose clamps.

So is your catch can actually attached to the car at all or is it just setting in that hole?

It sit's perfectly there. I don't know what it is but it's wrapped in black foam and somehow the catch can sits perfectly in it and it wraps around the can. No vibrations or anything too. Its like it was waiting for the catch can to be installed. It was meant to be! and now it's catching black smelly oil. I know my engine has 220hp but it's not that much of a diffrence 20hp isnt much. But then again when me and my brother race with his 300hp subaru im only 2 car lengths behind starting from 80km to 180kms. Wish I had a turbo. .

Anyways enjoy and guys please do this! I think it will actually be beneficial and it will keep your intake alot cleaner! I don't want to see anymore dirty intake manifolds

aight so you do have a type s motor? I was looking at your manifold and I didn't see the pgmfi sticker and It looks like you only have a single stage set up. It could just be all the of wires blocking it and the strut tower bar. But is that an euro r manifold?

No, his car has LSD, not ATTS. It even says it on the back of the car: S-Spec. It is not a Type-S.

The motors are the same except for the block castings.

So the PCV is that tube that connect from the engine to the Intake Manifold? Where does the crankcase breather come in?

The crankcase breather is the tube that runs from the other side of the cylinder head to the intake itself.

Very nice! Thank you for posting on both my threads! I hope this goes well with you!

Notes : Make it so your PCV valve is facing the oil catch can and yeah do some tucking techniques play around with it a little I guess.

They're not really needed as long as the tubing is snug enough.

I felt that you don't really need to put hose clamps but I put them on the catch can just in case, even though its a fairly tight squeeze on all sides.

Thanks! I hope does good things. I'll post an update after a few weeks and see how much oil is inside. I'm thinking of making some type of "dip stick" to measure the oil level. Just remove the hose put the side in and see whats up. Might be a good idea.
