Anyone with 18" Racing Hart Evo Wheels with a +42mm offset?? If so, do you rub?? I'm thinking about this size, but dont want to rub. I'm dropped with H&R sports and KYB AGX's.

sorry dude
Man!!! What are you talking about??????
01preludebase, you need a higher offset!!! With a +42 offset in 18s you will need to get a low profile tire. Like 215/35/18 and there is still a chance it might rub. Furthermore there is a plastic thingy that needs to be shaved off in the rear. Honestly, IMO its not worth the extra trouble of getting low pros. The ride goes down, easier to get curb checks, and way easier to bend your rims. The RIGHT offset for 18s would be +48 to +50 and get 225/40/18s (but w/ this your speedo will be off by a bit)

Oh boy, first the rim height size has NOTHING to do with offset guys. What causes rubbing is the width of the tire and rim without the offset, well offsetting the change. For example - stocks are 205/16/55 with a +55. If you went to 215/16/55, the offset of the rim should be +50. That way 5mm of tire will overlap on the right side of the rim, and another will overlap on the left hand side (in comparison to the original specs). What causes the rubbing in the 18's is the width of the tire, the width of the rim, the incorrect offset, lowering, and one other factor that most people forget - the shape of the tire. The more round the tire is, the less it will rub.
I have 17x7's with 215/40's with a 40mm offset which by everyone's standards here would not work. But there is no rubbing. Why? Well for starters, the 7 inch rim width, the slightly smaller overall diamter of the tire, the fact I'm not lowered, and the tires aren't square at the corners. All add up to no rubbing for me! By the way, you will always get different answers to what does and doesn't work as far as combos - keep in mind how big a mm is though - about the thickness of your big toe's toenail.

I am not trying to flame, but I think if you did lower your car it would rub. Generally, most people on this board lower their cars for looks or handling. I still say if 01peludebase is loweed or plans on lowering, a +42 offset will not work unless he chooses a low profile tire which still may rub depending on how far he is lowered. +42 will rub w/ 225/40/18s, +42 may or may not rub w/ 215/35/18 or 225/35/18 depending on how low the car is, and a +48 offset or higher w/ 225/40/18s, 225/35/18s, or 215/35/18s should not rub unless your car is lower than 2 inches................
EDIT: My 17s(when I first got y car) w/ 215/45/17s and +38 offset did not rub either but as soon as I dropped it ----rubbing

It may, but I think I can safely drop an inch because of the 7 inch rim size, the smaller overall diameter of the tire, and the shape. Were your 17's 7.5 or 7's? And by using a 45 profile, you increased your overall diameter compared to mine by about 2 cms.
You are right w/ 7s is less likely and 7.5 it is more likely,
but my rims were 7s and then they switched th tire size to 215/40/17s and machined to offset to +42 and still rubbed on bigdips and hard turns. I was dropped w/ prokit only.
After that learned my lesson anddid some research on offset.
My next rims were 17x7 SSR evolution decolte 3 piece w/+48 offset------ never rubbed, w/ 215/40/17s, I even could of put 215/45/17s..........

For those who think they know--the stock rim is 16x6.5+55. Tires for USA 5th gen are 205/50VR16 Bridgestone RE92 (Yes they are not the best, but they are stock).
The diameter of the rim is not the issue-the width is. I have 16x7+42 with STOCK tires and they rub with a drop of 1.7"-front and 1.5"-rear--they only rub in the rear and that is with the Camber kits installed. Solution--cut the plastic tab away.
The lower you go the more likely you are to have clearance problems if you use wider rims and the WRONG offset. A 17"x7" rim should have an offset around +45 and tires to match the stock ones for correct rolling circumference (keeps the speedo accurate). Larger widths require higher offset in order to kee them away from the fender lip.
Happy Luding
