Odd Shifting Problem

I have an 01 base model sometimes when changing gears i can take it out of the current gear but when i try to put it into the next gear example: 2nd to 3rd gear.

it comes out of second but when i try to put it into 3rd it will grind and not go into gear, but if i let off the clutch and push it back in it goes into gear.

it does it mostly going from 1st to 2nd but has done it in all gears. it only does it when i shift up. It doesnt do it all the time just randomly.

ive checked clutch fluid and ive made sure the pedal is adjusted correctly.

the clutch was replaced around 15k miles ago. and was doing that ever since the new clutch was put in. when i got the clutch i didnt replace the flywheel only had it re surfaced. this was done at a dealer.

ive also felt what can be best described as a poping feel when dis engaging the clutch like it was stuck in a spot and popped out. it doesnt actually get stuck tho just has that feel.

ive also put in new trans fluid less than 1000 miles ago, i put in ams snycromesh.

im clueless as to what the problem is.

any help is much appreciated.

It's been doing this ever since you had the clutch replaced and you didn't go back to the dealer who did the work and complain?

Talk to your dealer and see if there is a warranty on the work done.

did right after they claimed they couldnt replicate it so no action was done.

i forgot to mention the dealer also replaced parts inside the tranny including the 5th and reverse gears. which was the reason it was taken there in the first place as when i brought it to them i couldnt get the car into reverse.

Did you go along with the mechanic when they tried to replicate it? Maybe it's worth trying a few times until it does it.

Sounds like they did a craptastic job. You might have to take it to another mechanic or a tranny shop and bite the bullet. =/

i asked if i could drive it but they wouldnt let me some insurance bs.

im also thinkin they botched the tranny repair, but if it comes to fixing or replacing it ill just deal with it and get a JDM tranny sometime next year.

only other thing it might be is when they re surfaced the flywheel it didnt stay in spec and should of been replaced, but i dont know if that can cause the problems im having.

First time I've ever heard of a mechanic not letting the car's owner go along for the ride in the owner's own car! Sounds like a shady dealership.

yeah it seemed shady they claimed my clutch was worn to the rivets but it never slipped or anything. they also charged 300 bucks to install it even tho the tranny was already out of the car id of been much more pissed if i didnt have a warranty.

I think this is in the same category as my semi crappy mpg ill prolly never kno why lol.

thanks for the input guys i appreciate it.

funny thing is i took the car there cuz i figured its a dealer they will fix the **** better than some other random transmission place.

place was unicars honda for those in the coachella valley (so cal)

sadly they are better than diamond valley honda some senior mechanic told me my accord doesnt go into limp mode cuz of problems with the engine.

Wow. If I were you, I would have been there every damn day haggling them until they fixed the problem.

Maybe they never really replaced the clutch

I brought in my own clutch so i hope they actually did, when i got it back the clutch felt different so i think they did. tho i have wondered if they put in an oem clutch and some mechanic kept\sold the one i brought in. which is the easiest way for a dealership to magically catch fire

I think the people there just suck ass and when i brought my car back didnt want to fix it because they knew they couldnt.

sadly it doesnt bother me as much as it should.....

Sergios automotive gave me the worst dry ream ive ever gotten from any repair shop when i had them "fix" the blown head gasket on my accord. but thats a totally different very messed up story. but if it wasent for that i wouldnt have the prelude.
