the car will run fine. you will even get rid of some of those annoying obd2 cel's. i.e. the gas cap pressure. i dont think you can pass emmissions with an obd1 ecu though, so keep your stock one for inspection time.

I would check to see what kind of injectors you have first, the 4G VTEC injectors were different volume than the 5G's at least here in the US, I know of a person here locally that had all kinds of idle issues from running the P13 on a 5g, even after reflashing the rom and rewriting it himself. You may need to switch to the 4g injectors to make this work, unless the UK Motegi edition uses the same as the JDM motor.

Question, can you switch from ODB2 to OBD1 if your prelude is AT?

Are the P13, P27 or P72 ECU's available for AT?

All you need to do is add two wires to the harness to eliminate the EGR code.

The difference in injector size is well within the stock ecu's ability to compensate, you will have no problems running a stock p13 on a stock 5th gen.

do you have to do this with the hondata s200 also? i was reading up that if you use a obd1 p72(gsr) with the the s200 it will run fine, also go as far as keeping the dual runners. but they say nothing about the egr code.

edit: unless this is because of the lack of gsr EGR? if this IS the case then why don't he just use a p72 ecu?

-sorry...just a little confused
