Newbie question

Hey guys, I'm posting here for the first time after lurking for a couple weeks. I'm becoming very interested in possibly getting a 5G Lude to replace my current car after the lease is up. What things should I look for in a good Prelude? My family and I have never owned a Honda product before, so I don't know what kind of mileage, etc to look for. Any specifics to the car I should keep an eye out for (aside from 5-speed )? Also, how much should I expect to pay for a good Lude? My lease isn't up until May, but I figured I'd start doing my homework now. TIA.

all i can think of the auto prelude is it gets like 22mpg/28mpg and you shouldnt pay over 23500 after taxes and everything...
besides that i believe that honda cars are very reliable cars and i just say enjoy.

By mileage are you referring to fuel economy or odometer miles. As far as fuel economy goes its alright. Expect around 22-24mpg around town and a couple more on the highway. If you are buying used I'd obviously look for as few miles as possible. Try to find one that somebody bought and just didn't want or couldn't afford. Try for under 20K I guess. Although I knew someone that has a 99 that has over 50K and you cannot tell the difference between that and one on the showroom floor. One thing you may have to get used to us how high the rpms are in typical driving. For example, 80 mph in 5th gear is over 4000rpms. May take some getting used to, but completely normal. Also, with any high revving Honda 4 cylinder, done be afraid to wind it out. Although the Prelude does have acceptable torque... for a Honda. Feel free to 'pm' with any questions and welcome to the board.

I forgot to mention that the Prelude is NOT a hot selling car. 2001 is the last year for them. The dealer should be quite eager to get any they have left off the lot. I paid invoice (22,040) and had the spoiler thrown in for free in August. But my Dad buys an Accord every year from them so I didn't even have to ask for that deal.
