New member - ?? about my first prelude

Hey guys, I just picked up a 97 5speed with a jdm swap (so the prev owner said) and am in the middle of a tune up. I found a couple things that I couldnt immediately remedy and thought you might be able to help me out a little.

at the front left corner behind the headlight I found this connector that isnt connected to anything. its the grey one to the left of the washer fluid fill tube. anyone know where it goes? i cant find a matching connector in the immediate area.

and next to the battery, there's this plugged vacuum line. I think it went to the stock intake tract, but I'm not sure.

The other end of it goes to this solenoid that is in btween the shock tower and the intake and attaches right below the connector I have my finger on. There are two vacuum lines right there, the other line attaches below the plugged one. Anyone know where thats supposed to go?

The last thing thats giving me problems at the moment is the fuel filter. How the hell do you get down there to get it off??

Thanks for any help you can give me.

The first thing isnt anything but a bracket, Im sure that at one time or on another model it had something attached to it, but on the 5th gen Prelude its nothing.

The vacuum line was for the stock intake, I see in the picture that you have an AEM CAI so you dont need it, if you dont plan on going back to the stock intake you can remove all that system, its not needed.

The fuel filter is a pain, Helms recommends crow feet wrenches to get it off.

If you would like to know for certain if the previous owner did in fact install a JDM H22 just look on the front of the block. It should be stamped with just an H22A no 1 or 4 after the A.

Know this is OT but geramy seemed to hit all of your main questions. Good luck with the Lude!!

^ +1 the connector is part of the hood switch/siren kit from the factory alarm.

Here is a link to verify that.

whoa, thanks for all the replies!

I'll look into the factory alarm system to see if any of the other components are on the car.

Going to delete the solenoid with the vacuum lines tomorrow.

picked up some crows feet and a can of PB-Blaster and will take a crack at the fuel filter tomorrow.

again, thanks for the all the help.

The more I tear into this car the more I feel like I got ripped off. Its a 10ft car, but underneath it shows its miles. lots of corrosion, lots of rust, a good amount of poor body work.. at least the interior is decent.
now i just have to figure out why i have no top end power.

yeah mate, look under the drivers seat, that's where the ecu from the factory alarm is usually installed.
