If the owner was using synthetic @ 54k definitely continue using it. It will keep things cleaner and on a "younger" engine its a good point to start/keep using. 5w-30 is the recommend oil by Honda. Royal Purple is a popular trusted oil.

Its known to eat oil, is this normal? I have a 2k accord and have never even came close to having any sort of issue like this or on our civic. Damn first the SS auto warning and now people are saying its gonna eat oil and you gotta watch out for it and don't rev the VTEC too much. Wtf? This all makes the H22 sound like its garbage.
