If the owner was using synthetic @ 54k definitely continue using it. It will keep things cleaner and on a "younger" engine its a good point to start/keep using. 5w-30 is the recommend oil by Honda. Royal Purple is a popular trusted oil.
Its known to eat oil, is this normal? I have a 2k accord and have never even came close to having any sort of issue like this or on our civic. Damn first the SS auto warning and now people are saying its gonna eat oil and you gotta watch out for it and don't rev the VTEC too much. Wtf? This all makes the H22 sound like its garbage. Just when I'm getting excited about buying one, I finally talked myself into it after reading the SS auto warning. I thought these Honda race engines were made to rev...

basically check the oil every few days make especially if your riding it hard. my old accord went through 3 quarts in a month almost blew her up cus i didnt check. im just saying if your nice to your car it will return the favor. its good ever few days or so to get her in the higher RPMs to keep things clean but if you do it every time you drive every day the car has its limits, its just a machine (a fine one at that)
