Not to flame, but what kinda *** question is this? Who cares if the head unit has orange lighting to match your car. A radio is a radio. They all do the same thing...

I think the color will match. I was looking at the manual and on page 16 it says that the unit will display error messages in plain English with at least 8 characters, so it might have CD-TEXT. If it does, you just found me a HU that will match the interior colors I like so much and I'm grateful

I checked Circuit City and their website says it does. I'll go check in person tomorrow. If I get it, I'll have to figure out where to mount my rev/speed meter though

do diffrent HU's really matter? i thought it was just personal preference. i'm getting ready to buy a HU and i was just gonn get a plain HU so my system wouldn't look so attractive to thieves.

Circuit City's website said it did, but I went there tonight to check it out and I couldn't get it to display any with any of the discs I've made that have it encoded. It also didn't appear to have a high-enough resolution display to show it correctly. The other Alpines that had CD-TEXT said so on the HU itself, but not the 7874. What's your source?

I like the unit though. It was on sale for $179.99 US at Circuit City and I would have bought it without a second thought if it had CD-TEXT. The colors would have matched perfectly. Good call

oh yeah, the problem with nakamichi, a plain cd player, no frills is still like $400, ebay it htough and you can get it for cheap.. its well worth the money though, in the pictures they light up green, the lower models, but they are amber, same as guages, same as clock and factory radio.. people alwaays ask if it came with it stock.. so if youw ant a low profile, there it is.

Eclipse used to be great until they had quality control problems. I have an older model Alpine CDA7832, and although it isn't the flashiest in the world, i believe the sound quality is as good as the ones made today (3 outs, 4v outputs wtih gold plating)
