I had poseted a question a couple weeks ago asking if the new Polished Stainless Steel CAI by AEM heated up faster than their painted versions.(I had heard rumors that it did b/c of the finish) No one was 100% sure about it, so I called AEM today and the man I talked to said it perfoms exactly the same. So I just wanted to let everyone else know what I had found out incase anyone was curious about it as well. Although it is a little more expensive, but you get their new filter with it!

Yep..i was. Thanks for the info.
I'm still a little skeptical though. I just called AEM myself and the rep, in SALES, said the same thing about its performance. But he did say the new polished intake does NOT have the "zirconia" coat. Once I got into specifics about the zirconia powder coat resisting heat vs. the clear powder coat on the polished intake, he was stumped and sent me to TECH support. I'm waiting for a call back and will post my conversation.
Please let me know what the tech guy says. Thats who I talked to, but I didn't get as technical as you did. I'm a little skeptical myself, so I'm curious to know what they say. I wanted to ask them too if they had any tests or anything that had been conducted that they could possiblly fax to me. But anyway, let me know what you hear...

Key points from my conversation with tech support at AEM...
1. ALL color and clear powder coats include the "zirconia" heat resistant element.
2. ALL intakes start out with the exact same aluminum material. Differences are in the finish:
- New polished intake: polished and 1 clear coat applied (1 layer)
- Silver intake: 1 silver coat, 1 clear coat (2 layers)
- Red/Blue intake: 1 silver (base coat), 1 red/blue coat, 1 clear coat (3 layers)
He said they performed tests on the polished intakes vs. colored and found minimal temp. differences of .3-.4 degrees and no measurable differences at all in performance. No dynos or test results available.
I called AEM about this too and they said that they will perform the same, but I didn't get into specifics. .3-.4 eh? I bet the higher temp was the polished....hmmm....oh well...gettin' it anyway...looks nice...

Yep, polished. Though, i'm not sure if he just through those numbers out because i was so persistant on getting an answer...so i would not rely on them too much. The basic point he made was that the heat resistance differences were VERY minimal...not enough to affect performance. So if u like the polished, go fo it...it does look nice.
I think you can....someone was thinking about it on another post....I think he said $70.
That was me. That is the cheapest i've found so far. i am still looking around too. www.coximport.com is where i've found it. I think u need to call them or email though. U supposably get 1-3 hp more w/ just the filter.
