Alright, i've been thinking about having a quiet, but yet throaty exhaust made.
My setup i have in thought right now is:
cat > longest resonator that can fit > S pipe > then to a obx twinloop muffler (tested to be 2.5" straight through). All with 2.5" OD piping and 2.5" OD in/out resonator.
Will the resonator be able to quiet down the sound a lot?
Yes i already know that the stock cat and collector will bottleneck it. But i'm doing one step at a time.
damn, i don't remember his name, but he's got the most amazing custom exhaust set up. its with a magnaflow 5x11x22 muffer, two magnaflow resonators and 2.5" piping. it sounds absolutely, positively amazing. i hope he sees this and replys. i've been trying to search for that old thread for a while and i can't find it. i have all the videos and sound clips that he made with that set up but i don't know if he would want me to post them, plus i don't know where to host them and he already had them hosted. i personally would say "hell no" to the obx twin loop (had bad experiences with other obx exhaust products). chances are it's not a great muffler, and i doubt it would do a very good job at cutting down on noise. that's just my guess so don't take to seriously, but i would definitely consider a better muffler choice.

if you could get those clips up that'll be awesome. I choce the obx twinloop after a bit of reading on it. There's a thread on it at honda-tech.com. It was built with 2.5" straight through mandrel bend piping. And some guy put a video clip up with it comparing a apexi n1 knockoff. And the obx twinloop was way way more deeper.
hmm my bad, sorry for the knock on the obx twin loop then....
oh by the way, the exhaust thread that i was talking about has been brought back from the dead and it's titled something like, "the perfect exhaust system for the lude" you need to read about it and listen and watch ALL of the clips, they're amazing!
Artifex is the one that created the thread and exhaust thats being discussed here.
i think the OBX will be a bottleneck too since its a cheap knock off company. (usually)
it's not bottlenecking. I have it installed now with 2.5" mandrel piping and a 22" resonator. Very deep and fairly quiet. It has a rumble at low rpm, but at WOD the SRI is louder than it.
measured 2.5" mandrel piping on the loop of the obx. so basically 2.5" straight through.
i hate to sound like a complete idiot, but i know nothing about exhaust systems. all i know is that i want an aftermarket exhaust system for my 93 si that sounds throaty, but not pitchy, relatively quiet and will increase power and air flow. I have the stock exhaust installed currently. If anyone is willing to help, i greatly appreciate it!!
