Hey i'm on the market for a catback for my 01 base. all i have so far is an aem v2 intake, i'm looking for something not too pricey, 500$ or less would be ideal.
I'd like to hear anyones opinions, comments, knowledge, or advice on aftermarket cats. Some of the exhausts that have caught my eye are the Apexi N1, Tanabe Racing Medalion, Greddy Evo2, and a cheap 180$ Tsudo on ebay has me a bit interested because of its price. What do you guys think? Tell me of some of the exhausts you use, or your friends use. Do you feel the performance difference any? Hows the sound? Hows the quality? Hows the look? Do you like it/regret it? Thanks for the help!
i care about which one will give me the best performance, then secondly i would consider an exhaust that isnt too loud with a nice deep tone, and third one that looks good on the prelude. i have looked around the web and read reviews and those are some of the exhausts that stood out. but i want to know what you guys think... since everyone here has a prelude
i have a skunk2 which is 2/12 cat back which is nice because it can be used for n/a builds or if you wanted to supercharge or turbo it would be a good cat back running at 6psi, of course if you went more boost you would need bigger pipe, but at least it gives you more choises if youer unsure of what kind of a build you wana do. the exhaust is deffinetely loud but its nice and deep toned, doesnt sound ricey at all, got many compliments about it, something you may want to consider.
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
i think i'll just ask if any of you prelude owners with catbacks could tell me about the exhaust you own, what you think about it and if you recommend it.
i never even heard of espiler jgt500, i found some reviews online but only of wrx's with it, ebay doesnt have any of them either...
I found a vid of a WRX with one and man that thing sounds mean! http://media.putfile.com/Espelir-JGT500
I'm wondering what that type sounds like on a NA engine like ours.
wow that is pretty decent! thats like 530$ and free shipping... i could go with that... i'll have to bookmark that site, thanks solid =). btw it says honda prelude s/sh ... is a base model an S???

I have never riden in an RSX-S, but can anyone comment on the sound of them? I'm curious whether the engine's sound similar, and if we can use that clip at all to get an idea of what the JGT500 may sound like on the Prelude. I'm sure the VTEC switchover in the rsx is less noticible, as are all I-VTECs I've driven/ridden.

hmm I just noticed that, but the Type S has the same chasis as the SH. I'm guessing this exhaust would need to be modified or have an adapter made.
Most 5zigen's are for the Base/S Spec and not the SH/Type S, but they sell an adapter for $60 that allows it to bolt right up to the SH/Type S.
If you take it to an exhaust shop I'm sure they could remedy this.
that does sound pretty sweet, im sure the sound on a lude would be totally different tho.
CanadaRed, do you think you could get a soundclip or video of your lude's exhaust?
Hey man, when I have the time I'll get a vidclip for you guys. For now, search for threads on the Espelir on PO.com, I got mine off of JP Page and he might still have his Dyno clip up. The JGT500 definitely sounds deeper and lil bit throatier than a comparable Apexi N1 system, although I'm not sure which catback is louder. I have a pipe extender to fit the SH catback onto the base, just put some gaskets on and make sure it's tight to prevent exhaust leak. Oh and the welds are pretty damn good too and worth every cent you pay for it.
