Trying to tie in a 2001 stock radio into my 97. The wiring piece out of the radio has 16 wires with no descriptions on them. The wiring piece that connects this piece to the factory harness has 11 wires, and they're clearly labeled left front, right rear, etc.
Can someone with a Helms help me out by telling me what the colored wires are for? Thanks

Are you wanting to know what each wire is for that comes out of the 20 pin connector that plugs into the back of the radio? (Btw, I think the radio you have is from a 97 or 98 because those only had 16 pin connectors and you have 16 wires. The 99+ had 20 pin connectors. Of course I could be wrong and you have a 20 pin connector, but only 16 pins with wires in them *shrug*)
Anyway, if you're wanting to know what each colored wire coming out of this connector is for, here's the breakdown as far as I can tell from my Helms:
WHT/RED : Accessory Socket Relay
WHT/YEL : Under-hood fuse/relay box (no. 43, 7.5A)
RED/BLK : No. 10 (15A) Fuse
BLU/YEL : + Left rear speaker signal
GRY/WHT : - Left rear speaker signal
RED/YEL : + Right rear speaker signal
BRN/WHT : - Right rear speaker signal
BRN/BLK : - Passenger side door speaker and tweeter
RED/GRN: + Passenger side door speaker and tweeter
GRY/BLK : - Driver side door speaker and tweeter
BLU/GRN : + Driver side door speaker and tweeter
BLK : goes to something show in the Helms called G551
RED: Multiplex control unit
The red is only for the 99+ model headunit. Also on the passenger and driver side speakers and tweeters, I'm a little confused as to what the Helms means. It shows the wires I mentioned going out towards the speakers, but then shows those wires branching off It has the BRN/BLK branching off into two GRY/BLK wires, both for the passenger side negative tweeter and speaker. The RED/GRN branches off into 2 BLU/GRN for passenger side + speaker and tweeter. The GRY/BLK branches off into 2 BRN/BLK wires for the driver side - speaker and tweeter. The BLU/GRN branches off into 2 RED/GRN for the + driver side speaker and tweeter. Hope this helps, if not let me know and I'll try to get the right stuff you need.

Yeap, its out of '01, and it has 16 wires tied into a 20-pin connector.
Hmm, it says the WHT/GRN connects between the No.5 10A under-dash fuse to the stereo amplifier. It shows RED going to the Multiplex Control Unit, which I'm assuming is where the stereo gets its power? I have no idea what that unit does or where it's located though. I guess really any 12V power source would work, though. Anyway, as long as you know what those last 3 are for you should be able to get it up and running Let me know if you need anything else. I've got the whole circuit diagram here, but there's not much in the way of instructions for the stereo.

Which wire is power on the 20-pin connector?
Which wire is ground on the 20-pin connector?
Where do you guys think the yellow 12v memory wire goes out of the 11-pin connector?
The WHT/RED wire is ACC (Main stereo power supply)
The BLK is ground.
The WHT/YEL is shown as being the constant power wire, so I assume that's what your 12v memory wire would connect to. But, you said you had no WHT/YEL wire? Are you sure it's not WHT/YEL instead of WHT/GRN? If you look at the wires coming out of the connector, the WHT/YEL should be in pin 10, which is the top right pin (looking at the connector in the same orientation that it would be plugged into the stereo...ie BLK wire bottom right). Maybe it's yellow and just looks green?

Got these two taken care of.

Its DEFINITELY white/green ! This is in the #10 slot however, so it's probably what I need as far as power.
I appreciate the time you gave me here, thanks bro.
On the 99+ headunits, the RED/BLK wire is for Lights-on signal. Also, the RED wire is for Dash Lights Brightness controller. The brightness controller is a thing for only 99+ ludes, you probably have nowhere to hook up that red wire...so just don't worry about it But, I'm not exactly where you hook that RED/BLK wire up to. In the Helms it just shows it going to a No. 10 (15A) Fuse. Hopefully one of your labeled wires says lights, but if not someone else may have to help you with the placement of that wire

Thanks again. Can I just extend this wire and run it to somewhere to recognize the lights are on ? Maybe just to a fuse ?
If I can manage to find one of the 3 flashlights we have sitting around the house I'll try to go out to my car and see how everything is hooked up. I don't think you can actually connect directly to the fuse, but there's got to be a connection around there somewhere
Hmm, I'm kinda at a loss here. I took a look down under my car and I don't see anyway you could really attach the wires directly to the fuses. There are some extra connectors down there, one of which is +12v when the lights are turned on. The only problem is I don't think the RED/BLK wire for lights-on on the stereo actually needs 12v of power. Maybe it does. The Helms is actually very vague as to the exact specs of each connection. They just assume you're connecting a factory harness to a factory harness. Sorry I can't be of much help here I got under my dash and tried to trace the RED/BLK wire coming from my stereo but I couldn't see where it went. I'll go try again in a second, though.

Thanks for the help bro. Let me know if you can find anything, or if ANYONE ELSE CAN
you can get the lights on signal from the under dash fusebox. It's the one shown in the hookup directions for the JDM foglights. It's just a connector. Do a search. I have the JDMs hookup to my parking light signal, so there is one available to switch a unit when the headlights are on. You should have both connectors available. It's located in the kickpanel on the driver's side. You can always leave that unconnected. It will just mean the headunit will seem bright at night.
Page 23-40 shows connectors C and D. Those should be them. You really need a multi-meter. Get a cheap pocket one from radio shack. I think they go for 15 dollars.
