Need help! Noise from intake! - Honda Prelude Forum

This is my 1st post but ive been lurking and reading some sik builds and also searching on how to fix this problem. Neways if you guys could help I would really appreciate it. I have a 98 prelude with no modifications that idles really low and only stalls when its in drive. Already cleaned IAC and EGR. Also i have no power i can barely get to 40 mph. and theres a growling noise coming from the intake and the growling gets louder as it revs higher. Checked catalytic and xhaust and its fine also spark plugs and plug wires and also ignition coil and distributor. The noise only happens when the car is revving. Im gonna try 2 get a vid of the noise on here. But ne ideas on what it could b? Thnx 4 the help

yeah i had a running rich code frm the map sensor. umm i already cleaned and checked it still nothing.

So the CEL is off, now?

Sounds kinda like your throttle body is stuck almost shut.

Also, could be a mud-covered air filter. Check that out first.

yeah i have a clean air filter. I took it out and the rest of the intake housing and cleaned it also the tb and sprayed carb cleaner to clean the mani. Also 2day i checked the ect sensor which sum1 suggested could b it. The same friend also suggested a blon head gasket but i dnt have white smoke or coolant in the oil. thnx 4 helping me tho

yea i no. ive been trying to get a video up also my dads working on the car so ive been doing alot of different things and 4getting alot of things. sorry man but this is kinda a last resort thing cuz im not really a posting person lol as u can tell. thnx and sorry

Could it be a leaky injector? Did you check the ignition timing? A bad timing can make the engine run is limp mode (runs rich (safe) and could not go past 3-4 krpms).

no i havnt tried that yet but thats definitely my next step. 2day it drove fine the 1st run out 4 bout 2 mins but as soon as i came to a stop and started to go again the growling came bak and i lost power again. but definitely gotta check that. thnx
