Need help on High Output Alternator Wiring!

Hey guys, I just got a new 180 amp alternator for Christmas and need a little advice on installing it. There were no directions that came with the alternator and no new 1 gauge wires. I've found a diy forum on some other honda site that shows a guy doing it in his civic, so i used that as a guide for removing the old (dead) alternator. It was over 5 hours of hard work to get the b*tch off (old rusty bolts ), but now that's done.

I really would like help on installing the new alternator. I think i'll be able to put it in without any problems, but idk how to tighten the belts to the right tensions. However that's not the main issue, im more concerned about how to install new 1 gauge wire from the nator to the battery. Ive looked up and googled for dyi jobs but couldn't find anything regarding rewiring for high output nators.

I thought it would be as simple as running a wire from the alternator to the battery, but im afraid its not. The diagram i found was very basic, and didn't show where the wires run throughout the car. Ive followed the wire all the way down the back of the engine block, but then i lose it. It appears as though it goes under or through the fuel injection system. Then i lose it and cant find it coming out the other side. I'm going to jack it up soon to get a better look from underneath and see if i can trace it.

So my main questions are: Has anyone installed a HO alternator? How did you rewire it? How do you tighten the belts back to what they should be?

If anyone has wiring diagrams or diy guides for alternators, please send me a link. I hope i can get my baby back together and get some pics up, oh and its a 1998 base.

thanks, Mitch
