um yea.. sometimes when i try to start up my car, it wont start. i turn the key all the way and nothing happens at all. all the lights turn on and everything and the radio turns on and stuff too. i just got the car about 3 months ago and it just started happening about 2 weeks ago. i didnt really think much of it @ the time, but now it's really starting to bug me. i have to try to keep starting the car hella times (like 5 or 6 or 7 tries) before it actually starts up, and then it's fine. Can someone please help? i dont kno what's wrong w/ it. Has this ever happened to anyone before?? How do i fix it??? i dont wanna be like stranded somewhere b/c it doesnt start up....
ummm, i had the same problem in my integra. It was acually the engine kill function in the alarm. The guy that installed my alarm did a horrible job. I pulled the fuse, and BAM!!! no more prob. Just a suggestion
To check battery, either look for the color eye if it's the original battery. It has color code next to it. Or, take the battery and bring it to Kragens or equivalent, they should be able to check it for you free of charge. Good luck.
This happened to me as well, Its not the battery, it would be your starter......
The reason the car wont start is because the starter is dying and that the rotor does not get that necessary rotation it needs to get the engine going. If your battery is going out you will find that out by light intensity when you turn on your lights.
But if theres is no rotation at all when you turn the keys? Its your STARTER ! If its the switch, you the lights nor the stereo will not work either...
Tell the dealer you just got the car and that you would like your starter checked, HOPEFULLY you got an extended warranty of some sort...
check battery by putting a voltmeter on the "+" and "-" terminal of your battery WHILE you're starting your car... Normally, it should read somewhere around 10V. Problem occurs when you read under 8V...
when you turn the key to start, you hear nothing? Not even the starter is cranking sound? Then it's your starter. If you hear cranking sound but it just doesn't catch, then it's battery. sorry for the confusion.
hey man i had the same problem with one of my cars and it ended up being the transmission. if i didnt turn the key far enough the car would not start or else the car would start but non of the electrical things in my car worked.

That's exactly the same problem I'm having right now. My car is on the ignition recall list and I'm just waiting for the parts to come in. It's weird though cause I can start the car all the time if I put the key all the way in, turn it, almost forcing it so that it catches all the teeth or whatever in ignition.
Why don't you try that. Also call your dealer or go to the honda website to see if your car is in the ignition recall list.
If there is an alarm on the car the relay may be going out. THe same thing happened to me. I turned the key and nothing. If you lights are working then its prob not the battery. Take it to an alarm shop and tell them to check the main relay involved with starter kill.
thanks for all the suggestions. i dont think that it's the alarm b/c my alarm is hella ghetto and i dont think it has a starter kill. yea, the car makes no sounds @ all when i turn the key, no cranking, no nothing. but everything else still turns on, the lights, radio and stuff. so it's the starter? i thought the recall thing was on the '97 models. i have a '98 type sh. would mine have that problem? i'm gonna check the battery and then try calling honda and see what they say. thanks for the help. i'll try to keep updated.
