I'm guessing you didn't have the u-joint lined up properly causing the bolts to collide with the splines thus ruining the threads. You can buy those bolts from the dealer you know, then you wont have random silver head trailer hitch hardware from Ace holding your u-joint in place.

The size they told you was the length and diameter, thread pitch should be fine with a 10mm head, of course being a flange head. You're not going to find a bolt like it at the hardware store, many bolts on cars you wont, some can even be specialty that you'll never find. Just buy it from the dealer, it's why whenever I come across OEM fasteners I throw them in this big box since most are unique.

I bought the car with bad steering/non running. I have the car running perfect right now. but both of those bolts where removed for some reason i dont know. I know i can order them from Honda but they wont have them till Wed. I need to move my car this weekend so i wanted a no-permanent fix. just needed the size. So is the size 8 in diameter and 20 in length or 20 diameter and 8 length?

Well since we're missing 1 out of the 3 measurements for the bolt you're just going to have to go to a hardware store and pick out a couple of 8X28 METRIC bolts in different pitches and find out which works. You said inches in your above post and you should know that any japanese or european car will NOT use anything in SAE measurements, it's all metric. The bolt size is in millimeters.

M8x20 means the bolt is 8MM size and the length is 20MM. And the pitch size is probably 1.25. If getting from a hardware store I recommend you get a grade 8 or stainless bolt.
