Need help asap

I got a 5th gen base and yesterday it got a massive oil leak until there no oil left.

So i towed to a shop, it was too late and the mechanic said he'll take a look in the morning.

He called me this morning and explained what the problem is:

He told me the leak is from the oil filter housing and the housing is damaged. To fix it, he have to weld the housing and it going to cost 450

In my mind it sounded bull**** but i wasnt sure, so i searched and other people said it the o-ring

So is the mechanic bull****ing and what should i say to get my car out of the shop

Edit: forgot to mention that ive notice oil leak in the last few months

say "i'm going to pick up my car and take it for a 2nd opinion and pricing, if yours is best i'll be back. thank you have a nice day"

its not like you need a reason to get your car out of a shop
If you don't know what you want, you end up with a lot you don't.

It's not the oil filter housing. It's the oil cooler o-ring that sits between the oil cooler and the block.

Honda Automotive Parts

You want part 32 in the diagram. Less than $3. It's a common source of an oil leak, and if it is coming from where the oil filter mounts to the engine, there's a 99% chance it's the o-ring.

Just like Billy mentioned and most of the other people you have seen in other threads, it's most likely the oil cooloer O ring cause it's very common for it to leak. It's not too hard to change out.
