Mystery Jack/Connector

Just got my first Prelude ('97 SH) and loving it so far!!

Any idea what this connector is for? It's mounted to the lower right of the steering wheel. I thought it was some kind of audio thing but it has a red LED and 5 or 6 wires running over to the fuse panel on the lower left.

The whole wiring job is not pretty - I want to understand what it is before I do any "restoration".

Forgot to mention that the previous owner installed a keyless entry system. But I'm not sure if or why keyless entry would require such a connector.

Haha looks like its a 1/8th audio jack these are rarely used as power connectors plug some headphones in it with the car turned on if you get a buzz noise then its using power then you can at-least rule out audio. I have seen these kind of things used as something a transmitter can be plugged into then id just as well assume it went to keyless entry system or something similar.

note: a LOUD buzz, a soft one wont rule out an audio-in. Take an ipod and plug it in, and press CD on the radio and see if it plays, or AUX on an aftermarket radio
