Mine does too when I tilt my sunroof open. For me, the problem is caused by the sunshade and the sunroof/sunroof rails. I figure that this is normal cause our cars really don't have a "tilt" button as do the Accords and Civics. Other than that, my "roof" is fine.
mine too! especially when its cold. I assume that due to the decrease in temperature the liner is changing shape a little, thus it starts to make noises when driving. I'm sure this is only a temporary problem until the weather gets better.
i just came back from the dealer today regarding my month old lude's snrf. they said they would need to drop the headliner to access the rattle which would take at least a day. i told them id return when i could drop it off. had the rattle since day one. they said its a common problem among our cars but mine was especially bad.
if you are having the same problem i did.. then i can help you fix it... while i was getting my car ready for a show... i hit the plastic tab that os on the roof behind the sunroof... the roof then came down a little and i didn't notice it at first... then when i drove some distance... it got anooying so i started playing with the plastic thing... all i did was push it up and start turning it.. after it got stuck... i never had the problem with the noise ar rattle again... try this out...
These rattles are known problems that were associated with some 4th and 5th gen Preludes. Honda has come up with a solution to fix them and listed it in their TSB's.
The original TSBs numbers for this rattle are 92-014 and 92-018 dealing with the sunroof squeaks. The dealer fixed my previous 95 VTEC according to TSB 92-014 and 95-054 (headliner rattles). They applied EPT Sealer 5T (part #: 06991-SA5-000) to the inside of the rear headliner where it contacted the wire harness, the motor, frame, and all clips. They also bent the metal cable liner apart a little to keep from rattling. The rattle didn't get fixed on their first attempt. I brought my car in total six times and they finally got it fixed! The new TSB's may have a different solution but I think it won't be much different. I listed the part # above just in case that your warranty has expired and that you want to DIY.
Mine used to rattle as well, but its not as noticeable anymore after i applied my quick fix everytime i heard it while driving: punch the damn thing till it stops
mine rattles when i have it on tilt and the plastic cover under it fully open but if i pull the plastic cover out a little it stops...dont know whats wrong...dont really care anymore....EVERYTHING rattles...take it to honda and all you get is, we failed to deplicate your problem......freakin biachs, couldnt even find anything wrong with my tranny till it practically exploded on the freeway and had to be TOWED in...
