Is this my Pilot Bearing? *sound*

Ive been have some serious squeaking in the past few months on and off. but now the skeaking is 24/7 and its starting to get really really loud. It happend when i engage or disengage the the clutch its a squeak. but more annoying is when i am driving. it has a rattleing squeek. and the worst is right when i downshift and and dont touch the brakes and kinda let the engine slow the car down really slowly it starts to squeak BAD!.

also i have trouble putting it into every gear. like a little delay, or 1/2 second stop b4 it will actually go into gear. But when the car is off it goes into gear just fine. also when the car is idleing'it usualy goes in nicely

here is a sound clip of the car off, and me jus pushing the clutch pedal in and out.

what u think?

you sure it's not a throwout? If it's input pilot it would sound when you have the car on in neutral.

I thought they were the same thing? or maybe together. i dunno. but it does sueak when its in neutral sometimes also, and i jus kinda push the clutch in a little bit and it will stop till i lift the pedal back off again.

5th gen ludes dont have a pilot bearing. It could be the throwout bearing itself, or the squeaking could be comming from the fork's pivot point(which needs to be greased).

one more thing: You could pull back the boot for the fork and apply some grease externally; some people have had success with this method...

I had a squeek in my clutch fork about six months ago. I fixed it by smearing some wheel bearing grease on the forks pivot point. Just pull back the boot and work some grease in behind the fork where it pivots inside the tranny case. It also makes it easier if you unbolt the slave cylinder and push it aside so you can get a little more room.

squeeking when you press in on the clutch pedal probably means something needs to be greased (release fork)

squeeking when its in neutral or the engine is just idling or what not, is usually the throwout bearing?

just some things i thought i'd share from what i learned. any other input on this would be good. NOTE: i had the squeeking too, but mine just need greasing

I had the same squeak. I greased the release fork and that cured that problem.

Yep, pull back the boot. Make sure you do not pull on the fork itself. If you pull back by hand you're going to have air in your clutch line. You're going to have to bleed the slave cylinder if you do that.
