My 5th gen OEM skirt repair!

I got these OEM skirts recently for a decent price. They were advertised as having "a crack in the middle of one of the skirts." I bought them, expecting to easily repair the single crack & finally completing my lip kit. However, when the skirts arrived they had numerous cracks. The most serious ones occurring at bracket attachment points. There was also a big chuck missing at the end of a skirt. Here the pix of the restoration. They were repaired with JB weld and pieces of DVD and CD cases. The skirts now have great structural integrity and after some sanding and minor touch up should be ready for painting

That's a good job for using random materials. Does the JBweld sand nicely.

^ didn't try yet. if i have difficulty with it i'll do a rough sanding of the JB weld and then cover it with bondo before painting.

i meant to ask if this was your first "fab" type of repair. because i think you did a great job and makes me feel lousy thinking about how i did mind.. i left all the cracks, i just made sure it wouldn't crack more lol

You should be happy. You fixed some badly damaged skirts and did a very decent job. Do they feel pretty sturdy with the JBweld?

^yeah they are very sturdy. however, someone on another forum pointed out since the JB weld is so inflexible it could lead to cracks at the repair sites with skirt flexing. it sounds reasonable, and i guess i'll just have to see how things go.

If the Jbweld doesn't do good, try that 2 part epoxy for plastics they sell in auto parts stores. That stuff doesn't flex much if at all.
