Well, just so I don't sound like I don't know what I'm talking about...

Maybe the ABS system also makes noises, which are normal, but the noise I'm referring to is a sustained "Brrrrrrrrrrr" sometimes lasting for 3-5+ seconds, and it may happen upwards of 3-4 times after the car is stopped. I even felt the vibration with my finger, after narrowing down it's source.

Eww, did I just say I felt a fart with my finger? Bad times.

I have a 2000 Type SH, and two 2000 Civic EXs, they all do this on occasion. I think it is the fuel vapor cannister (the black tanklike container on the firewall) purging built up fuel vapors from the fuel system. It is kind of a squeaky rubber air fart sound that only lasts about 2 seconds, repeats every 15 minutes or so. I only seem to hear it when I am around the car for long periods of time after it has been driven (ex: when working on it, waxing/detailing, etc.).

Also agreed. You wont hear it all the time, but this is the closest sound to a cellphone vibrating on a table lol.

I think there are two different issues in this thread:
1) Weird noise upon start-up/start-moving: ABS Priming/Testing
2) Weird noise after the car has been driven for a long time and then
parked/turned-off for a while. Fuel evap purging/leaking

I have the 2nd and can assure you it's not the ABS. It's absolutely certainly
coming from the fuel evap. Ahh...all the weird noises that can come from the
plethora of solenoids/valves on newer cars.

I guess the moral is that neither one is a sign of imminent doom, but just
obnoxious?
