Any insight into this problem would be GREATLY appreciated!
But first, story time:
Lovingly stored my baby under a car cover this winter to save her from the brutality of a New England salt and sand bombardment. Problem is, I live in the sticks and a family of mice decided that my prized prelude was a kick ass place to chill for the winter!
Long story short, I'm pretty sure that I have mouse nest material lodged up in my heater unit and my blower unit. I'm no noob, I've already gone through the entire BB6 service manual and it seems... the only way to clean out the blower unit and/or heater unit is to remove the evaporator? I've already got the car interior stripped and dash "practically"* off... but...
DO I REALLY HAVE TO REMOVE: #1) the evaporator? (disconnecting refrigerant oil suction and receiver lines from under the hood) and #2) the steering hanger beam? (the steel backbone behind the plastic dash) in order to access and clean out the heater unit and blower unit? Hasn't anyone ever cleaned out these two internal spaces without disconnecting all of the refrigerant oil lines and heater hoses?
* = I really didn't feel like removing the steering wheel this afternoon.
P.S. Yes, I know she needs to loose a few inches.
