Momo shift knob w/ stock boot?

I got a momo shift knob for $20 from a friend, not realizing it woudln't fit the shift boot right. Is there a way to get the 5th gen shift boot to fit the shift knob snugly or will i have to buy a new one? I spent every cent i had buying a '97 prelude and i'm broke now, so if i don't have to buy a new shift boot, i'd rather not.

I have a momo combat knob with stock boot on. It looks fine though there is still a gap there.

so that boot finisher replaces the stock square chrome ring?

I've never saw it before, but it looks sweet. Thanks for the link.

Well if what you can do is take apart the center consoul. Fold the top of the boot in, and use a zip tie on the inside of the folded fabric and pull good and tight. You will have a little bunchs at the top but that is a cheep way to fix the boot up. You could also us a glue but that is a little too perminate for me.
Good luck.

I had the same problem with my aftermarket knob (not a MOMO, although I am getting one of those soon).

If you don't want to spend any extra money, you can do what I did. Pull the boot down some so the metal shaft is exposed. Take a strip of cloth or paper towel and wrap it around the shaft, then secure it with a twist tie. Wrap that up in electrical tape.

What you have done here is just enlarged the width of the shaft so the stock boot ring has something to fit around. Then just pull the boot ring over the taped paper towel and it should stay put (instead of rattling around). It won't look perfect but it's a free solution.

I used a KONI shaft protector (Comes with the KONIs). I just opened the top and hollowed the cylinder a bit and ziptied it like the OEM one. It stands on its own because the cylindric part sits on the bend of the shifter.

The crome plastic piece is only held on with a rubberband. To take off the centerconsole there are a few screws in the back of the centerconsole and one on each side of the console in the front under the square piece that is pulled off to expose the screws.
