Minor Start-Up Issue

Hey all, I have not been on here in a LONG time.

Recently, I have been having a little thing my lude, 98 AT. When I start the car, it kind of sputters a bit, or shakes if you want to call it, like it might stall or die. I usually just give it a bit of gas and its fine. It only lasts like 5-7 seconds, and even if I dont give it gas, it will go normal.

I had the CEL come on a couple days ago, and I was going to check it...however after I changed my oil last night (tuesday), I started it up this morning and it was a nice, clean start, no issues AND THE CEL WAS GONE. Now I was thinking to myself, a simple oil change was all that was needed...? Well no. Even though the CEL has yet to return, my next start up was the same as I described above. I did a bit of driving around to different places today with school and going to the gym, all at various times, warm engine, cold start, etc. Now I started it 6 times today and 2 of the 4 starts, were good, clean starts, while the other 4 had the little issue.

What do you guys think could be the problem? I am going to continue to monitor this over the next couple days and I will let you all know how each days is. I should also note that I had a complete tune up a couple months ago, if that matters. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

*Quick Update

4 start ups today so far, and I would say it was 50/50, however the CEL has returned Its a nice day out today, so I am going to give my baby a nice hand wash and I will check the CEL code while i'm out there. I will let you know later on with the result.

Probably could use new spark plugs and wires but hopefully the CEL tells you whats wrong.

nsbsalt, i had a tune up, which included new spark plugs and wires in october 2011, which was 3 months ago. So I highly doubt it has to do with them.

Anyway, I pulled the codes and I got 3 for the CEL:
22 - VTEC pressure valve
72 - cylinder 2 misfire
73 - cylinder 3 misfire

Also, my ABS was blinking as well...which is weird because it DOES NOT come on AT ALL while driving. I took those codes as well:
16 - Wheel Sensor: RR (Electrical Noise/Intermittent Interruption)
53 - Motor Stuck ON
81 - Central Processing Unit (CPU)

So what am I looking at here?

Have you ever replaced your dizzy cap? They can get worn after awhile. Clogged EGR can also cause misfires but I believe that it has its own CEL code.

Dizzy as in distributor cap? If so, yes I have. I am going to do some troubleshooting with the helms manual either tomorrow or sunday, and hopefully get some more insight on this.

If you pulled the code with a paper clip method don't worry about the ABS codes. If its not on while you drive those were just stored codes. From your 3 cel I would clear them and pull them again when the cel comes on again. Its probably the VTEC pressure valve that is your problem. Don't worry about random misfire codes for now.

Yeah I used the paper clip method, so thats some good news to hear!
My CEL actually went off today on my way home from work, so I will see if it comes back over the weekend.
