So I found a guy selling a high flow magnaflow cat for $150. I guess all I need to know if it's worth it? Keep in mind my cat is "shot". Mainly I posted on here because I've been reading mixed reviews of these cats. It says direct bolt on for 5th gen, is this true? Also is the price reasonable.
It says direct-fit but has 2.5" piping. That's not a match. You can get a Magnaflow high-flow cat (no flanges, welding is required) for about $75 shipped.
I'd dodge this one.

I had magnaflow high flow cat and also a muffler fro a total price os 195 canadian dolalrs from Mopec Auto Supply. I dunno they are a BC store but pretty good prices.
The O2 sensor screws into an O2 bung that is located on the ass end of the cat (for stock). However, that's not a requirement. You can grab a weld-in cat without the O2 bung and have a bung welded in at the same time as the cat. Typically, there's no extra charge since it only takes a few seconds.

magna flow offer diffrent setups with bungs also, the one iu have has twon bungs in it one for before cat and one after, i have the before one plugged with a bolt.
I guess the better way to word question would have been, "if I buy a new cat, will I have to buy an 02 sensor for it?"
My guess is no. If you do, DON'T buy oem. $200 bucks EACH sensor. I got NGK/NTK O2 sensors for around $50 each. The OEM O2 sensors are made by NTK anyways.
Send me a PM with any High Flow or stock replacement cat needs. We can get you a good deal on Magnaflow. Same with Denso, NTK (NGK), or Bosch Oxygen sensors. They are the same as OEM and way less expensive

I just bought this cat since mine died as well. I changed the O2 sensors first thinking it was the problem... but no. Anyways, I got this one and it's waiting for me to pick up (shipped to the states to save customs). It says it's from a 96-01 Honda Prelude... which is weird since 96 is the 4th gen. My car is a 99 Prelude SH.
Ya but on the magnaflow website it doesn't state that it'll fit the 97+ Preludes, only the 96. It also has a different part number for the 5th gen preludes.
Scratch that, now that site is crashed.
but I did get one for a 96 si on ebay. 100 or best offer
offered 70 shipped. they told me best they could do off ebay is 85 shipped 95 on ebay
So i got it 85 shipped, yes!
well its best to get the direct fit so you dont have to weld it..if you can price will be a lilttle bit more since welding cost still add up to the total price of direct cat
