Lude Questions

Wassup everyone. I'm fairly new to the Honda scene. I purchase my first Lude SH. It is completely stock. It also has 177k miles on it. The previous owners took very good care of it though so there aren't any visible problems. I want to add performance parts to it but I don't want to mess it up.

1st question: Should I put a cold air intake on it? Would it hinder the engine in any way? I know the CAIs dont really don't do much but I do like the sound of them.

2nd question: Other than regular maintenance, what else should I do to keep the engine strong? The previous owner had the engine resealed and replace many of the components.

1. Intake is arguably the first and cheapest upgrade you can get. It should not hinder your engine, although if you live in a region where you get heavy rainfall and constant flooding, I would look into getting a SRI, rather than a CAI.

2. I'm going to assume that the previous owners had the timing-belt, waterpump, and necessary seals replaced. If not you should use the search feature and research on it a bit more. also, look into these threads.

High mileage 5gs... what problems are you starting to see, if any? v.whatever

Almost time for 90K Maintenance - advice

its common misconception to call SRI a CAI. cold air intakes are longer and take air from near the wheel. since its close to the ground and actually takes "cold" air where as SRI takes warmer air from the engine bay. and since the CAI is taking air from close to the wheel you could easily take in moisture from the tire as it spits up the water from the road, causing your engine to hydro-lock and cause engine failure. So most people stick to the SRI for that reason. just some info i thought i would share with you since your new to the scene. welcome to the prelude family and the honda scene, im sure you'll enjoy both. theres alot of usefull and useless information on here, be sure to search throughly and ask plenty of questions!

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

There is a splash guard between the wheel and the air filter. The only way hydrolock is ever going to happen is if the filter is completely submerged, and for that to happen you would have to drive through water almost as high up as the top of the bumper.

Fear sells. Why do you think so many people own a firewall, antivirus, and antispyware?
