Lowering Springs

ive got a question. I just ordered some springs from preludeparts.com, they were sparco springs. is the the same sparco that makes the torino seats and all that? i was just wondering, does anyone know if they are good springs at all? they were origionally 230 dollar springs, but they came from preludeparts for 100 on sale. did i get ripped off? should i send them back?

hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... dont know the answer to that. most decent springs start from about 150, so im sure the one you got is good. it really doesn't matter what brand it is, as long as the spring is decent (like perhaps it was oem'ed by H&R).

also, its just a piece of wound steel....how much more do you wanna pay for just that? you'll probably wanna upgrade to coilovers with shocks in the future anyway, i think you made the right choice to start things off to see if you like lowering your car or not. if you dont like it, just put back the factory springs. easy does it.

eactly, that is the way i figured it, i dont know if i want my car lowered now or not, so im just starting things off with non adjustable springs to see how it is, b/c i have never had a dropped car. have u ever heard of sparco making springs though, i just thought they made like seats and shift knobs as well as racing clothes, i didn't know they also made actual suspension or engine components, does anybody shop at preludeparts.com, anyone have sparco springs on their lude?

Man... ahahahahaha listen-- send those fvcking springs back, they suck... they are NOT MADE FOR A 5th GEN PRELUDE... they are made for a 4th GEN!!!! The spring rate is all messed up, those springs will ride like ASS.. search this board.. NO ONE has them.. because they SUCK....it'll cost you to send them back, but tell them you wont pay shippping of Fees since they advertised 4th gen springs as 5th gen springs... call sparco if they argue.. talk to Mike... in parts.. he will tell you Sparco never made a spring for the 5th gen...

Anyway... when you get that done... hit up www.aieonline.com and get some h & r springs, if they have them, and if not neuspeed, for like 125 shipped.... its the best springs for the best deal. I promise you will be MUCH happier with those than the Sparcos

But do what you want.

(you can do a search under my name and read all the BS I went through with preludeparts.com)

w0rdie, I don't know who told you that the Sparco springs ride 'like ass' in a Gen5 Prelude. Frankly, I don't care who told you. You never had them on your car in the first place. Also, AIE does not have Neuspeed or H&R for $125 shipped, like you stated. Check their website, it isn't there...as a matter of fact, H&R isn't even listed on their website. You have to e-mail them for the prices.

Like I said before, I have sold several sets to Gen5 owners, and to this day have I never a peep from them about how bad they are or whatnot. I even e-mailed some people and asked them about their Sparco springs on the Gen5 Prelude. Here is the response I got back (after asking them if I could post their e-mail and address online).

Reply from Chester L, snoop_doogs@hotmail.com:
Quote:
Hello,

Basically, the ride is almost like stock. You only notice the springs when
you drive over a pothole or a "sharp" bump on the road. The springs totally
get rid of the wheel gap. The springs were on sale at the time so I decided
to buy them and try them out. So far, I haven't had any problems and I think
it's a pretty good buy for what I paid for. I like the springs but if I had
to start all over again, I'd get Skunk2 coilovers just for the
adjustability.

Sincerely,
Chester L.
I have another praise about the Sparco springs, but I am waiting to hear back if I can post the e-mail online. If I get permission, you'll see it right here.

So, w0rdie, please don't tell people that the springs 'ride like ass', when they don't. Sparco isn't the only spring manufacturer who made a '92+ (notice the +, denoting all newer years).

Hahah, that same Snoop dog guy told me the springs were rough as hell and that he wished he had gone with H & R or someone else...

lol.. whats this then.... did I imagine this link?
http://www.aieonline.com/29/cat29.htm?146

If those springs ride like stock, post the spring rates for the stock springs... then post the rate for the Sparcos... then just for fun post the h&r rate... and we'll see how far the Sparcos are from stock.

Sparco's on a 5th gen = Rides like ass

As far as the email 'praising' sparcos, ryan and lincoln both begged me to post something good about the parts and service from preludeparts, same thing on the hp.com board... some guy made a good post after his negative one, it read like there was a gun to his head... I wonder what discount you guys offered Mr. Snoop dog for that little email he typed up, because I talked to that kid, he doesn't use proper English, he talks like a homie gee (just look at his email) its so obvious that he was coached writing that mail. Oh, and if the springs were SO great.. why did Sparco stop making them? To hear you guys tell it, Sparcos are the best thing out you sell so many of them and everyone loves them... if they are moving off the shelf that fast.. Its pretty odd that sparco would discontinue production... ::

I couldn't care less, I have H&Rs... and Im happy

Of the people I e-mailed about the Sparco springs, none were my customers. I did not coax anyone into giving a good review of the springs. The product spoke for itself. Also, companies discontinue products all the time. For example, A'PEXi discontinued the Dunk series exhaust. It is a popular exhaust...but yet it is discontinued.

Also, w0rdie. You said for $125 shipped on aieonline.com. You might want to go back and re-read what the site says. $129.95 is not $125 shipped. Also, H&R is not even listed as a product to buy through their website. You have to call or e-mail them.

Anyways, I got the second response about the springs and was given permission to post it.

As said by BLeighLude@aol.com:

I really like my springs. I think they right really good. Ive had them for about 6 months and havent had any problem with them. They handle sweet too. I would recommend them.
If you don't believe me, e-mail him yourself and ask. He has the springs, he is using them, he was NEVER coaxed into giving a positive review.

w0rdie, you have no arguement over the springs. You never used them in the first place, yet you continue to say how bad they are. Why?

What did I say? Did I say they had them for 125 shipped.. or did I say they had them for LIKE 125... 129 is a WHOLE LOT LIKE 125... Don't misquote me.

As far as the H & R... take another look... I said 'IF'

You tell me I have no arguement, you found a WHOLE two people that have those springs, both are from the hp.com board, and one of them told me that he hated the springs... so you are going on the word of others, and I am going on the fact that only TWO people that either myself, or you can find has them.... you have never used them either, yet you continue to swear by them, why?

Don't answer why... I don't give a ****, Im trying to help other people on the board avoid making the mistake I made in buying those springs, that is all.
