was it lowered or just TERRIBLE springs?

So I finally have a more interesting question that doesnt (really) have noob written all over it.

I went to change my oil today and couldnt get the jack under the car. Confused, i investigated the lowness of my car further. I assumed it was just a low riding car. After reading i see that i should be able to fit my fist between stock tires and the fender. I am not even kind of somewhat close to doing that. i can fit maybe two fingers (proly around an inch to 1.25 gap).

do you all think it was lowered or have my springs gone to absolute crap? the ride isnt awful (maybe a bit rough) and it makes some kind of clunky noises in the back when i hit a big bump but if the springs were that bad wouldnt i have a crappy ride regardless? the springs do look kind of new but kind of old too. theyre black like stock too and the front have really tight coils.

thanks for your help guys. would pics help?

If the wheel gap on all 4 corners is the same, the car has been lowered. The stock springs will probably outlast the car, they won't all just fail all on their own.

Just hope that you have lowering springs and the previous owner didn't do a hack job and cut the stockers.

Just got done lowering my 01 Prelude tonight with some 1.75 front and 2.0 in the back. It not as easy as you would think.it took about 3 hours. But it looks good and it rides ok.I've rode in worse. strange thing it was a little out of aliment but when I put the new springs on and put it back together it drives straight as can be .strange hu.

They arent a lot of money... what like $50 or so a shock?

Good shocks are expensive.

I'll post some pics prolly tomorrow, I haven't gotten a chance to jack it up to take good ones.
505ludelove, are you saying you did use stock shocks? I'm fairly certain mine are stock and it rides ok like you said. Not great. Assuming mine has been lowered, would koni yellow struts work well with lowered springs? Probably wouldn't make it ride much nicer but I'd like the adjustable stuff for race day ha.
