low beams keep burning out.

This might be considered a continuation of my previous thread about silverstars being junk. I bought a set of silverstars around Christmas because one of my low beam bulbs burnt out. On Feb 5th one of the silverstars burnt out. Tonight BOTH my silverstar low beams burnt out. I had to take the generic bulbs out of my high beams to get home. Now I don't know if there is something going on with my low beams or if silverstars are just complete garbage. It might just be me, but the filament looks smaller than the other generic ones I had. Is it a cold thing? I couldn't imagine what kind of electrical problem it could be. The socket still shows the usual auto voltage. I am totally stumped. I guess I will just try out a different brand of bulbs for now and see if they blow out ever other month like the silverstars. From a little searching around the net, I found that there are two different silverstars; one is the sylvania silverstar that I hate so much right now, the other are the osram silverstars that "E coded" and I dont even know if you can get them in the us. I find it strange that Osram-Sylvania wouldn't sell the same quality product on both sides of the ocean.

What do you guys think; are the h1 silverstars junk or are gremlins visiting me every 2-3 months?

silverstars are junk, try http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/ Before I got retrofits I used the powerblue bulbs from this site, I had the same pair in for over a year and a half with no problems. They look better than silverstars imo, kind of bluish white.

Thanks for the nice link. Those Power Bulb PowerPlus bulbs look mighty tempting. 33 bucks and it says it comes with a free second pair. Ive really been wanting to try out those +50 bulbs to see if they really work. I went ahead and ordered them. I found a 10% discount code on some vw site the code is ZXRCX111 for anyone else that wants to try. I guess I just got to wait and see now. I'll throw some cheapo gas station brands in there for now.

I thought I would throw a quick update about the PowerBulb PowerPlus h1 bulbs. These things are amazing. This is what I was hoping those silverstars would be. The low beams are quite bright and white. They aren't blue and they aren't yellow. The low beam seems a little wider but does not throw any further. The high beam is a whole other story, its much wider and longer. I drove around some of the darkest local areas, and it was really nice being able to see. I was worried that it might have more glare or be too bright and blind oncoming traffic, but no one flashed me or looked like my lights were a problem to them. I have to say I am really happy with my purchase, I just hope they last longer than those silverstars.

They have a really good deal going on right now. Right now the bulbs are buy one pair get one free with free shipping. They also throw in a set of w5w bulbs... which I have no use for. Not a bad deal for 33.23.

I'm still not totally sure the +50 bulbs are totally legal, but they sure are nice. At least I'm not blinding anyone off the road.

I have bought from them in the past. I bought the Philips Vision Plus bulbs. It was the only bulb that lasted more than a few months in my car. They usually lasted me close to 2 years.

I had the same problem with silverstars. They burn so hot that they will go out/break with a lot of jarring. My car being lowered added to this problem, but my headlights were "loose" so I rigged up some foam in behind/above them and haven't had the new set go out yet.
