why do you need a red key made???

everyone says that you need the red key to make a copy of the black key or some crap like that but when i went to honda i gave them the black key and they made a copy and it worked??

NO-the RED key is the programming key and you cannot make new keys without it from what I understand. You cannot make a black key without the Red one and a dealer still needs to use the programmer they have locked up. Don't ask what this costs-very expensive. Remember that the Immobilizer connects to the ECU.

well the person shouldn't have made u the copy. the red key is very important if ur a clumsy person. But goto the dealership and ask them what you can do.

Oh boy - yes it's true that's what the red key is for, but Honda has since given up on the idea that people are going to bring in the red key. Black key is good enough.

WIthout going into specifics, they read the chip off the key, program the blank with the code.

Talk to your alarm installer about the other issue - they'll have to code the clicker to the alarm
