Looking for: pictures of red painted brake calipers, opinions

Hey all I just picked up the Dupli-Color caliper paint kit (Red).

I'm wondering what it'll look like on my red 2001 SE with OEM brakes.

Any thoughts on how this will look? I have the stock SH rims, (aluminum alloy).

If anyone has pictures of red painted calipers, or better yet red painted calipers on a red lude, post some pics please!

Tom

Owner before me painted them but I like it a lot. This is the best picture I have that shows the color well:

Are you sure that that was dupli-color paint on stuff, Kronn? You're right it's extremely faded.

I wanna do the same, but with blue or yellow? I have the same alloys as Kronn so hope it will look just as good if not so faded. How did you get your wheels so nice and clean!?

I have no idea what paint was used. The previous owner did it and it looks like ****. I plan on redoing them in blue. Something like the Photoshop pictures below.

My clean wheels are a 2-part process. First, I use ceramic pads which reduce brake dust by 90%. Second, I sprayed them with 409 and then wiped down with a shamee.

Thanks for the input guys. Kronn that blue looks good, so would you recommend everyone with SH/SE rims pick up ceramic pads to keep the alloy cleaner?

I recommend EVERYONE use the pads that I'm using. Raybestos High-Performance ceramic pads. They cost me about $12/pair (you can't get them at that price). But after 50k miles, the pads are only half used. I'll definitely break 80k with these pads. Plus they improved stopping power by about 20%.

I agree. Although I spent $95 after tax for mine. Very minimal dust as well.

My brakes are painted with dupli-color red paint. I love the stuff. After about 8 months its still glossy as hell. Cleans up nicely too.

Looks great. Did you sand or polish the calipers before painting to make them less rough looking? Or does the paint take care of the glossiness?

I'd do them black since they are just oem calipers. Low profile

Okay I see em now boymeetsfence, looks good. Now all I gotta do is find some jack stands and a ride home from whichever family member's driveway I'll have to leave it in for 24 hours!

I did mine in red caliper paint as well.

1) was them in water and dish soap.
2) use a brake caliper cleaner solution. (Yes, they exist usually comes in spray can form)
3) sand them using light sand paper
4) repeat wash in water and dish soap.
5) dry using tower and hair dryer.
6) apply caliper paint with 6-7 inch bursts.
7) enjoy.

I think I'm going to go with silver, the dupli-color paint on kit. Thanks for the info and pics guys! I'll post some pics when it's done.

I used Duplicolor Ceramic Caliper Paint (the rattle can - NOT the kit that comes with a brush which I hear works well too). I went with silver because they match my SH wheels, and they look so clean they don't even LOOK painted

These pics are low quality and at night

I used the Dupli-Color paint kit Several years ago and my calipers still look great. Not the Cleanest, but of course that's my fault. Good product and holds up well. I have NOT used a brake cleaner on them cuz I think it will strip the paint.

ok thats enough haha
