After a couple searches on here I found members saying between $1800 - $3000 out the door (parts & labor). Anybody on here reputable and did this before? Preferably someone that could give me a warranty...gonna have my guy check it out Monday, he is on vacation at the moment. Figured I would ask on here as well...I am in the Treasure Coast area of FL.
if you could source the parts.. you can reduce some of your overhead.. find someone that is parting there car out, and obtain all the necessary parts for a 5 spd swap..
the most expensive part of the swap is finding the transmision.
Just a side note, depending on your plans for your car.. for instance if you want to turbo it in the future. you should think about getting an accord or a h23 trans.. (i dont know the trans code of hand)
They quoted me at 1300-1800, one of the two I forget.
I'll be doing my swap around April-May with the good ole T2W4 LSD beast, which was NOT the tranny they included in my quote. That T2W4 goes for like $1000 + by itself

Called the place in Cali a number of times, no one answered so I left a message. Also emailed em hours ago, still heard nothing. Could possibly be on vacation as well. As soon as I get all the info i'll post it here so if anyone else is curious about it.
I've talked to them on the phone before, gotta remember the time difference, not sure when you called but they could be on vacation.
I'd go to a junk yard or hit craigslist and just look for a super cheap car that has been totaled and just use it for parts, probably the cheapest way.

Yeah I called 1PM their time, they must been on vacation still haven't heard back from them. I would rather get the parts rebuilt from the place rather than used. $1300 - $1800 is a decent price...just wondering how much labor would cost. But if the labor rate is crazy i'll search for used. Also going to talk to my guy Monday, he does all kinds of rebuilds/mods to every import imaginable...maybe he can get everything, we'll see. I'll let everybody know where im at in the next week or two for reference in case anybody else is planning to do this.
I would suggest you set aside at least $3k for everything. Most shops that would even want to tackle this project would be at $80-90 an hour for labor.

My swap cost me less than $1500 and I got an M2B4 w/LSD, a Fidanza lightweight flywheel and an Exedy racing clutch. I found a Prelude in a junkyard in Orlando and pulled parts off of it and the rest of the parts I needed I got from Craigslist, EBay and here. I can't help ya with a labor charge though because I did it myself.
@BB6 A family member will help me do it for next to nothing, didn't want to bother him with it but he insisted and he knows his stuff =). Now again you said this place in Cali supplies everything needed for the swap for $1300 - $1800? And everything is rebuilt correct? Still haven't heard back from them...hopefully tomorrow, I would rather buy rebuilt than used now that I am paying barely anything for labor.
@Allude Whats the difference between an LSD and stock trans? I read that an LSD is faster off the line.
@bouckaroo I'll keep it in mind, thanks...how many miles are on all the parts?
Also I forgot to ask everyone...is it worth it? I think it is...I have a base auto with a bad trans, engine is tip top with a 135K on it, had the timing belt done 5K ago, and I have 2K - 2.5K to spend. My choice would be yes because if not I would be stuck with a lude with a bad trans and 2K - 2.5K to find something else. My luck would be a pos if I found something lol...just curious of what everyone thinks about it.

The Trans is a M2Y4 with about 48,000 miles (Around 88,000 kilometers). It is in great shape, shifts smoothly allway around. I was going to rebuild it for my tubo project but then came across another m2y4 that was alreaedy prepped.
The starter has only about 20,000 kilometeres. Clutch and flywheel centerforce dual friction and oem flywheel, already mated together, broken in and has about 8,000 kilometers on it.(one season of driving). The clutch slave is a used one with about 30,000 kilometers on, it comes off of a scrapped h22a4. Also, i have a set of shift cavble, i had bought as a spare set when i broke a set a few years ago. I have tweo sets of the shift cables, one for fourth gen and one for fifth gen, the difference being the clips that hold it in place on the inside of the car are slighlty different but both cable can be used, just make sure you use the 5th gen clips.
They emailed me yesterday, told me to call and ask for Steve I called again and left another message. Anyone actually buy anything from these guys? Odd they haven't called me back after 2 messages and an email reply.
^ usually the guys at hmo are pretty good about selling, on the occasions i have dealt with them they were very pleasurable and blew me away with the shipping time.
If you can afford a close geared LSD trans and are interested in going fast then it would definitely set you apart from other ludes that may already have some bolt ons while you are stock, the T2W4 and U2Q7 make a noticeable difference in acceleration. I don't regret 1 bit buying my T2W4.

I have to ask is it really worth it though? Im looking to get alot of life out of this lude, don't want to put any more stress on it as it has had already...but a little more kick would be nice =).
