Lightly Tuning the Prelude

I've read a lot of threads and none of them really gave me clear answers. Most threads were old and outdated information was apparent.

I'd like to tune my prelude but keep obd-II and pass inspection. What would be the best tuning hardware to use...Apexi vafc-II?

Not looking to chip the ecu or go hondata, just a nice light tune.

anyone feel like answering this today? I'm not asking you to climb a mountain, just move your fingers on a keyboard.

A good piggyback system would work for you. I personally really like the greddy emanage systems as they are pretty powerful and they are piggyback systems so you don't have to swap out your ecu.

if you are looking to tune the engine and get the best performance out of it go and buy a wideband and then use a reputable tuning element, ie standalone, chipped ecu, etc.

You too could move your fingers on a keyboard and find your answer...

I came off as rude sorry, I did look and couldn't find anything for awhile. I'll try this Apexi-II out and go from there. The greddy emanage looks good too. I guess my local shop is really familiar with the Apexi units so that would be a safer call on my part.

Well the VAFC is very limiting in what it does, all it can do is alter A/F by tricking the MAP sensor into thinking the engine is under more load than it actually is, it can also change VTEC crossover but that is about it. Greddy E-Manage would be far better or (depending on where you live if you can get away with not having the stock ECM for inspections) the AEM V2 EMS.

I have not, kinda put it on the backburner. I just bought a whole list of new things for the prelude and will probably be tuning after I do the 5 speed swap.

Well keep us updated. I'm curious as to what kind of changes/gains you will get from it.

Certainly will sir, I'm assuming 3-5whp with the tune. Some disappointing result haha.

Well that always leaves room for some unexpected but welcome results lol. I really wanna get a tune for some whp/torque, but also mpg. Not sure if I could get two tunes done, and be able to switch it with my laptop or something. I really want my daily driver to be efficient, but have the option to get the most out of my bolt ons.

^Leaning the A/F out increases power and helps MPG...
