Lets talk about how many of us services/serviced their ludes at honda..

Well i've had my lude for over 10 years and about 75k miles on it.
Ive changed my engine oil with synthetic like a mad man and tranny fluid on time aswell.
Spark plugs and wires twice which was probably premature, so purely talking about mechanical stuff i though i needed to see about the other important stuff that some might neglect.
So i called honda and asked them how much they charge for certain services.
I asked about coolant flush, which was about $120.
I asked about clutch fluid flush and they said they do it for free most likely cause its easy.
I asked about brake fluid flush and they said about $90-100 i believe.
Then i asked about the timing belt service and that was package, where they actually replace the water pump, and all the belts (i think) which was $800. Other than that if im not mistaken you just need to do the spark plugs, wires, engine oil and tranny oil obviously, and hmm i think thats all? Other than the usual tire rotation and visual inspection of everthing.

Everyone please chime in on your ideas or tips or recommendations please..

Probably should clean out your EGR valve every 10-12k miles. Maybe even do the ports every 20k or so miles for fun.

Replace your in-cabin air filters every year or two, depending on if you drive in dirty areas(such as I).

Get your rotors turned whenever they start to look or even feel(with he nail or tip of your finger, they'll feel uneven and almost like they have ridges) a little wavy.

Lube your sunroof tracks every year or six months.(speaking of that, I need to do that, wonder which type of lubricant to use??)

That's all I can think of for now.

^To be honest, not a lot of people find time. I put off a number of things for a long time. Brakes, fluid flushes, oil leaks, you name it.

Not everyone knows what to do either.

Have you ever felt a brake rotor become "wavy?" Because if it did, you're probably going to destroy your wheel bearings and wheels in a matter of weeks.

I got my timing belt done at my local honda last year and thats about it. I personally think its too expensive to get all servicing done there. I will only go for any kind of major service but not maintenance.

No, but I can feel the inconsistent surface with my finger, my braking is a s smooth as butter in that car.

Now, my friends cars? Yeah, I've felt it, and they've driven their cars like that for a long long time, a lot longer than a few weeks. Are you sure that's what happens? I've never her such a consequence.

Ok, they had a special for a complete timing belt job for 569.95$ so I got it. Also got a oil change for 30$ and two drive belts changed for 50$. Then of course they found 3 oil leaks and 3 internal oil seals and the oil pump gasket needed to be changed so the price went up to 1,200$! I told the guy I had exactly 1,000$ to spend and not a penny more and he said ok and got it done for me. I can live with that because I got my lude with 63,XXX miles and got this done with 88,579 miles. I dont know if the timing was ever done and I was going on a road trip.

No I didn't but I did have a small oil leak and one of my drive belts was worn and squealling. I just did to be on the safe side. I have documentation of service on my lude up to around 30k. From 30k to 63k when I got it there is nothing. Better safe than sorry.

I avoid my dealership as much as possible. They always forget to put something back (air intake hose not attached), get my car super dirty (mud inside interior), or straight up lie to me. The lying was when I had them do an alignment and nothing changed. The car would pull to the right on the freeway. They promised me they aligned it, so I went to a tire shop that I like and they did an alignment which actually made a difference.

I also remember when I took my car in to have the shock knock fixed. They drove my car over some bumpy dirt roads, gave me back my car all dirty (mud on tires and lower trim), and said there wasn't anything wrong. I ended up doing the research, found the TSB, and had a local shop do the work.

if you go to Honda to have your T-belt done, you shouldn't mention having a coolant flush, cause they have to pull your water pump out anyways and refill the motor with new coolant which I'm sure is all included in their ridiculous price for a T-belt change.

^^^I did mention it when I got my T-Belt done and my service guy told me there was no charge for that because they have to pull my water pump out anyways. Glad he was honest.

lol i do my own servicing, the only time i go to honda for servicing is when it is electrical or i need a sensor rewired. Once you get your car to a certain point of modification the dealership wont want to touch it.

Interesting. I think i would wanna use my dealer at least untill the warrenty runs out. (which allready has ran out for all preludes lmao) but i guess i was thinking of my new Si. In many ways i feel you there really is no point to taking it to a dealer if you could get teh same job done cheaper somewhere else. But assuming the dealer does a good job and the price is fair (which it ussualy is higher) i would hope they are trustworthy

lol it is easier to trouble shoot when its more closer to oem parts all around. I don't mind an exhaust, chasis upgrades, and wheels, but more mods do make things more of a pain in the arse sometimes thats why im trying to go back to stock as much as possible latley.

Thats good preventative maintenence. I would love to do that, like change some of the gaskets etc, and i would love honda to do that. But im afriad if i walk in there im asking for a $1000 or ^ bill

lol once i took my car to the stealership and dropped it off to have teh ball jiont recall done, they called me an hour later and told me my ignition was screwed as they couldnt start the car. I asked them if they used the s2k push start, and then reminded them that it was in th coin tray. The guy said, " oh yeah i forgot about that" and then they started it and did the recal work. It is jsut funny as the dealership immediatly assumed the ignition was screwed, rather than follwo the instruction on the work order(about the s2k button) that i had put on so they would know. What is also funny is it was the same dealership that had sold me the s2k buttona nd gave me the diagram to wire it in correctly. I dunno, i go to the dealership abotu twice a year for work on my car, and usually it is soemthign that requires a special honda tool or somethign electrical.
