I got pics, Koni Yellow/GC Combo

A local guy is selling a set for $300 bucks, they have 25K on them. Should I go for it?

Edit: These are pics he sent me. He has the allen wrench and the shock adjuster things as well.

Yes, dependent on a couple of things.

Ask him if the koni's have ever been revalved and what the spring rates are on the GC's. If you can I'd take a test ride if they are still on his car.

They aren't on his car anymore. He took them off while his car was getting an engine rebuild.

Shocks haven't been revalved and he doesn't know the spring rates, he said they're whatever came from the factory.

That is a really nice combo for a suspension setup so I'd be really curious as to why he's getting rid of them after only 25k miles.

I asked him, he said he didn't want to pay to adjust them every 6 months or whatever.

Just post his info, so people everyone on here will buy them lol.

If your looking for a new setup or if you have wanted this particular setup and know the reasons why, then I would jump on it. $300 for a mildly used koni/gc setup is a great deal imo.

He was saying something about having to readjust it b/c of bumpy roads and stuff. I think he had them lowered pretty low, I asked if I needed a camber kit and he said with the current setting I would. I don't want a huge drop, I just want a ~1.5 drop.

that is a sweet deal, jump onit.

The spring rates are written on the spring, unless it faded out. Just look for a three digit number somewhere on the spring.

OTS spring rates on the GC are I believe 375 F 280 R...I think. For 25k that's a great price - most people sell just the Konis for that much.

Make sure you get all of the Koni specific hardware. They don't sell that stuff cheap. You'll need the washers, sleeves, and lock nuts.

well consider this....new GC sells over $300 and used sell not too much under $300. So basically it's a steal if you ask me...that is if the struts are still ok.

I think everything was good. What exactly is this Hardware you mentioned? He had some stuff, but it didn't seem like a whole lot.

The Konis should come with a metal sleeve, two steel washers, and two jam nuts for each shock. The hardware is for where the shock's piston rod goes through the upper mount. The Koni piston rod has a bigger diameter than stock, so the stock washers and nuts are two small. The sleeve goes inside the two rubber bushings that are inside the upper shock mount. Again, the larger Koni rod will not fit through the stock sleeve so Koni provides a larger one. There is also a thin plastic washer type thing that goes over the piston rod and sits on the top of the shock body.

If you didn't get the harware with the shocks Koni sells all the above hardware in a kit. I think it's $12 per corner. So an extra $48 + shipping for all four. Even with that you are still making out well on the deal.

Someone really needs to make a Koni shock How-To. Maybe when I put my stock suspension back on for the winter.
