So someone stole my friends bag, which contained my spare key & remote. Now because it was stolen from my house, it makes me worry about who it was and knowing where i live, etc. I wanted to know which parts (i couldnt find them on hondaautoparts) i need to replace and/or if i can take it to a dealer and have it done for less? Its just for sanity, mostly.
As far as the key, I believe you can have your Immobilizer system reprogrammed so that it will no longer recognize the key that was stolen. Essentially, you bring in ALL your keys (including the red one) and they reset the system and then re-teach it the keys that you still have and then it won't remember any others.
Not sure about the remote though. What's it to?

You could still get into the lock of the door, but you couldnt deactivate the alarm, or start the car. Which is truely my main concern. I figure, with the paddle as is, you can walk up to it, dearm it, steal it, and i'd never know until the morning. I'm not so worried about rekeying it as much as reprogramming it.
and is the dealer going to see my vafc/turbotimer/etc during this process?
The dealer quoted me $500 +tax to re-flash the transponder, so the old key wont work. However there is this website, if you could stand not driving your car for a couple of days where you can ship off the transponder & the key cut, or the key it's self & they will do it for a total of $180, the catch is after you get the parts back you have to call a locksmith & spend another $50 or so to have them program the new transponder to match the computer in the car. The door key stays the same they just can't start the car with the stolen key. Heres the website, look it over:
To get the information on where the transformer is & what your key cut is you can take your registration to the dealership & they'll give you the paperwork. That is what I did. Good luck & God be with you!
I sent the transponder unit, with the key code to JCS Auto Locksmith & I talked to them today. They told me that the day it's recieved (which will be tomorrow, I'm tracking it) it'll be re-flashed & sent back with a new key, & red key. The old key & whomever has it wont start the car, it will however still open the door. They're great to deal with & it's $187 out the door & shipped back overnight. they have been absolutely amazing to deal with. The only catch is you have to call a local locksmith when the transpo. gets back to program the new code to your cars computer. If you are interested in going this rout the # to get a hold of JCS is: (631) 665-3320. There is a toll free # 1-866-420-5625, but all I ever get when I call it is a messaging service. the other # you get a real person. Or I left the web address in my previous message. Good luck & God bless!
