I have a 97 SH I am putting back together after buying it as a basket case. Did these cars come with a keyless entry either as standard or as a option? And if they did, how can I tell if mine has it so I can get a remote for it.
All I know is a really cool aftermarket one I have no clue of the name came with a duel set for mine and there is like a relay on my front windshield but in the prelude you cannot get the trunk to release unless you buy a motor or something. I wish it did for mine but it is a cable release hatch, so you have the function with keyless entry but your trunk was not made for it

you can get an accord trunk popper to work with your remote
OP, get a remote at the junk yard and then try to program it. i paid $5 for my remote for the keyless remote. not sure if an alarm remote would work for just the keyless or viceversa though.

Well there is no control module under the seat but I am working on a friends 97 CRV tomorrow that has keyless entry. Might just try to program that remote to mine to see if I do have Keyless entry.
I don't have a clue what mine is but the "control module" is both off my windshield with a flashing blue light so people no to step away and then it plugs into the computer and if you tamper with that the wrong way it sets off xD
I dont have any junkayrds I know of in montreal otherwise I'd of found all the parts I need by now, I'm missing tons of stuff
It does have an aftermarket alarm system in it that I will be pulling out. Would rather just use and OEM system if possible.
Re'
Keep in mind the OEM one has no alarm as far as I know, simple lock and unlock remote.
You could argue the alarm has no purpose anymore, since any experienced thief knows how to shut that off with a quickness, however you can outsmart them with dummy cables and small alarm battery that can throw them for a loop. However I have been told it doesn't matter what you do, if they know what they are doing they will find a way.
there is an oem alarm option. not sure if it was a 97 option though.
yeah, wasn't there a siren kit that you can purchase as an accessory to the security system? I know that 4th gen definitely had one. Man, I wish Majestic didn't take down all those cool OEM Access instructions.
yea, it was a full kit with siren, glass sensors, motion sensors. can't find it on handa either. they have other discontinued stuff up, but that's gone.

you should make a WTB thread in the Classifieds Section. Possibly someone might be able to help you out.
In order to get keyless entry on a 97-98 Prelude you have to purchase the OEM security system
Parts# are
08E51-SV4-102F this is the 1997 OEM alarm (superceded part# was SV4-101F) still available from Honda
08E51-S84-100 this is for the 1998+ OEM alarm still available from Honda
08E55-S30-100 this is the 1997-1998 alarm attachment still available from Honda
What is NOT AVAILABLE anymore for the 97-98 OEM alarm is the
security system options harness (08E57-S30-100)
& it is used for connecting an external siren & hood switch)
the external siren 08E49-S30-100F (not available from Honda discontinued)
the hood switch 08E49-S30-100G (not available from Honda discontinued)
The part#s for 99-01 are DIFFERENT
08E51-S84-100 OEM alarm (same part as 98-02 Accord and 2000-2004 S2000)
08E55-S30-101 attachment kit (THERE ARE ONLY FOUR of these left in the United States AS OF TODAY 9-21-11)
08E57-S30-101 security system options harness (not available but the 98-02 Accord one is available part# 08E57-S84-100 & it might also work in the 1998 too)
?? the hood switch (not available) (the 98-02 Accord one is still available it might work part#08E49-S84-100G)
?? external siren (not available) but you are able to use the CRV one 08E49-S10-101F for a 98-01 model (what I did)

thank you, I gave up myself. Whatever previous owner did is pretty cool. There is a flashing blue light on a controller where my rear view mirror is on the inside, its hard to miss day and night its bright. Should warn people that they are messing with a nice ride. Anybody who would want to steal a Lude is dead inside anyways...
The factory security system was available as an option. If yours has it, the control module should be under the drivers seat.
Wrong it is located under the dash above the gas pedal
