just ordered katzkin covers...how about the installation?

alright i just ordered katzkin black leather and black suade center covers. It was a total of $664 shipped.

I spent about two hours searching up old posts about leather covers installation...but i'm still wondering is it really hard to install them? or just a time consuming?

i have a helms manual and the rear seats looks pretty simple..just lots of clips.

my order was:

$599 katzkin covers
$30 suade
$35 shipping
free installation kit
Total of $664

I could go another route of

$599 katzkin covers
$35 shipping
free suade upgrade but no installation kit
Total of $634

I could still change my order, but i was wondering if the installation kit was actually useful. And those that did their covers themselves..would you do it again or pay somebody to do it?

is this the fronts or the rears?

i heard that rears are fairly easy, but the front is the hardest.

did you ever finish installing them?

well i changed my order...they guy could only do suade combo or inserts..couldn't do the suade body. And to have the suade it'll be +$30 and to perforate the suade also would be +$30...ouch.

so i ended up doing all black leather perforated. It should come in in about a week...not sure when i'll be able to install them because my car is going into the bodyshop next week to get my lipkit painted.

I did this conversion few years ago, and it was bit*c to do it and very time consuming. I had all this scratches and scars due to its hog rings. however, at the end, it is all worth it. i had this leather seat for almost 4 years, no problem yet. Also this mod is my fav. mod done to my lude

if you search, there should be some pics of my seats and installation pics.

Welp, i finally got my katzkin covers in the other day. I only had enough time to finish one seat...the drivers seat

It took me approx. 5 hours to do just the drivers side...but i was also clueless while doing it. I think it'll take me about 2-3 hours on the passenger side since i have some experience now.

Here are some pictures of the seat though. It black leather with perforated centers.

And not to mention, it makes the seat so much comfier now. It added a lot more cushion..

looks so nice. i just put katskinz on mine too in my dashboard thread. I feel your pain about how long it took to do . Those "staples" can be annoying. Took me a hell of a long time too becuase it was also the first time I did it. I have a very nice scar on my wrist from the inside of the seat too. Very sharp when you are trying to take the head rest clips out.
